Update: Rapper T.I. To Pay More Child Support

UPDATE: A judge has granted Lashon Dixon’s request for more child support from rapper T.I. She will now receieve $3000 a month, up from $2000. T.I. has also been ordered to continue to pay for the boys – Messiah, 8, Domani, 7 – to “attend private school, uninsured medical bills, and expenses related to the children’s extracurricular activities.”

A change in the custody agreement was also ordered – the couple now have joint custody; before, the rapper had the children about 40% of the time.

“Every little bit helps,” Randy Kessler, Lashon Dixon’s attorney, said. “She was just getting by with the children, while they lived a different life with their father. It can’t be complete opposites on the other side.”

T.I.’s ex-girlfriend, Lashon Dixon, is suing the rapper for increased child support for their two sons, Messiah Ya’Majesty, 8, Domani Uriah, 7, because she is “having a hard time supporting the boys on $2,000 a month.” She is hoping a court will rule on a figure that takes into account his successful career.

T.I. responded to the suit, saying,

To clarify the recent reports, in addition to the $2000 per month I pay in cash to Lashon Dixon, the mother of my sons Domani and Messiah, I also pay for their private schooling, medical insurance, clothing, food, gifts, birthdays and extracurricular activities. Their extracurricular activities have included football, basketball, baseball, acting lessons, summer camp, and any other activities that they express a desire to be involved in that will contribute to them leading balanced lives and developing into well rounded individuals.

I have also made an attempt to help Lashon with additional payments that have included a down payment to purchase her home, purchase of an automobile for her transportation and other financial obligations. These expenses are documented and are far in excess of the $2000 cash payment that is being paid direct to Lashon. She has chosen not to work and to live 100% from her child support receipts. This is the reason for her difficulties in making ends meet for herself.”

Besides Messiah and Domani, T.I. has kids Clifford, 4, and Major, 3 1/2 months, and a baby daughter, Llayah, who passed away shortly after her 2007 birth, with fiancee Tameka Cotte. He also has a daughter, Deyjah, from another relationship.

wow, wish my ex had paid for all of that, she needs to get a job to help support her children, it is good for them to see mom helping out

3000 sounds like a lot, but it really isnt. A mortgage on a half decent house is 1200 and up in small crappy areas, add on bills, food, clothing, entertainment and transportation, it doenst really go that far. If shes spending the time taking care of and interacting with her children, i dont see why she should have to work. The only thing her kids will learn when shes gone 8 1/2 hours a day is what full time daycare is like. its a must for some people, but if you dont have to, why would you?

Katrina, but he is paying those 3000$ on top of almost everything else “private schooling, medical insurance, clothing, food, gifts, birthdays and extracurricular activities” . He also made the down payment on her mortgage, so what exactly is she spending that money on? It’s called child support, not free-pass-for-never-working again.

  • I agree, it’s a bit ridiculous. If she’s having such a hard time, then share custody with him or get a job. His job is to support his sons, not his ex.

She is sharing custody of the kids…..he has 50% custody according to the story above. This is grown woman support and nothing else.

Wow, looks like T.I. needs to put on a condom. 6 kids? Absolutely insane.

She needs to get a job, even if it was part time. her kids aren’t babies they are at school all day and she probably has a nanny to boot as well. He should pay for the kids but he shouldn’t be supporting her. My boss’s ex pays £400 a month for his two boys, that covers about a week and half of the nanny’s wages.
