Isla Fisher Covers Allure
| Jan 16, 2009 by JENNY SCHAFER |

Isla Fisher covers the latest issue of Allure which hits newsstands on Jan. 20. Her latest flick, Confessions of a Shopaholic, opens in theaters everywhere on Friday, Feb. 13. This is her first movie since giving birth to her 1-year-old daughter Olive. The Hollywood mom opened up about being pregnant, the upside of being mistaken for every redhead in Hollywood, and her plans to wed her main squeeze Sacha Baron Cohen.
On the family she has created with Sacha: "[It is] the thing that I am most proud of. And that is thanks to him." Sacha was raised in an Orthodox Jewish community in London. Isla was raised as a Methodist and has converted to Judaism."I think if one wanted to be buried next to one's beloved and they were Jewish, then one would have to be Jewish, too."
On marrying Sacha: "We are going to get married really, really, even more so now than ever. We have been talking about it, and we have been very close, but it has been difficult to plan [something private.]"
On gaining 60 pounds while pregnant with Olive: "Héagen Dazs and I had a great time together." She went on to say "I loved being pregnant, and I never felt better. I lived it up."

On Sacha: "[He's] mysterious and interesting."
On years of rejection for serious acting roles: "I was so disillusioned by the rejection of being an actress in L.A., and Sacha said, 'What are you doing? You are the funniest woman I know. You have to do comedy. It had never crossed my mind—even though, when I flick through photo albums, I am always the one humping the table or wearing a silly mustache."
On moving a lot as a child: "I attribute my ability to tap into my inner idiot to having to be such a gypsy and to adapt to new environments and new people at school. You can make friends quickly if you're willing to take the piss out of yourself."
On being mistaken for other Hollywood redheads: "If [Shopaholic] is a hit, it was Isla Fisher in the movie. And if it doesn't work out, it was Amy Adams."

"... willing to take the piss out of yourself": words to live by, truly ... celebrities and 'civilians alike. Level-headedness and good humor for all!
Holy moly, in most of these photos she is photoshopped to death, it doesn't even look like her.
As for her converting, why is it that it's mostly women who do this? And whom is she fooling with her answer? There are methodist churches who allow families to be buried next to another no matter the religion of the respective spouse. It has been said before, but if you don't love a person the way he/she is (including their religion) why even bother starting a family?
I think it has more to do with the fact that she wanted to convert to Judaism to be closer to Sasha and also so that they both can raise their child together in the Jewish faith. If one does not feel particularly strongly about their religion they will sometimes convert to their spouse's religion. Also it is not easy to convert to the Judiasm. She would have to really want to be a part of the Jewish faith
I agree with Jess on certain points but as a moslem married to a jewish guy, it was definitely a NO GO for me to convert to Judaism and neither does he. So to answer somebody's question, we made decisions prior to our marriage to avoid any conflicts thereafter..
