Update: Sophie Ellis-Bextor & Kit Valentine Are "Doing Well"

As previously reported, Sophie Ellis-Bextor just gave birth to her second son nine weeks premature after being diagnosed with the potentially life-threatening condition pre-eclampsia. A statement released by Sophie's agent confirmed that both mother and child are in a stable condition.

"Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Richard Jones welcomed the latest addition to their family on Saturday February 7th. The happy couple have named their boy Kit Valentine Jones. Both mother and baby are doing well."

British singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor has given birth to her second son nine weeks premature after being diagnosed with the potentially life-threatening condition pre-eclampsia.

The 29-year-old Groovejet star gave birth to a 2lb 10oz baby boy her former Blue Peter presenter mother Janet Ellis revealed. Sophie's husband is The Feeling bass guitarist Richard Jones. Sophie revealed they were expecting their second child on November 5th last year and that the baby was due in April. Rumor has it that the new baby is named Valentine.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast News this morning, her mother Janet said, "Sophie's just had her second little boy. He was early, nine weeks early, but he is doing fine. He is doing very well."

This is the second pregnancy drama for Sophie who had an emergency Caesarean section at 28 weeks after also being diagnosed with pre-eclampsia during her first pregnancy. Her son, Sonny, is now 4-years-old. After birth, Sonny spent five weeks in hospital before going home. Unfortunately, Sonny developed meningitis at four months and had to be readmitted to hospital. Sonny went on to make a full recovery and is a healthy and vibrant boy.
