Sarah Jessica Parker’s Wedding Day Regret

The Sex and the City star tells Harper’s Bazaar that if she were to do it over she’d opt for a more traditional gown: “White it up. I’d wear a beautiful, proper wedding dress, like I should have worn that day.”

Sarah Jessica, 43, relays a recent conversation on the topic with her 7-year-old son James,

“James Wilkie’s teacher is getting married, and he said, ‘Do you think she will be wearing black?’ I said, ‘No! I can almost assure you.’ Then he said, ‘Do you still regret it?’ and I said, ‘Yes, I still regret it.’”

The dress may not have been a wise choice, but it seems the groom was: Sarah Jessica and Matthew Broderick will be celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary this year.

My husband & I spontaneously eloped in Vegas & the dress I wore looked like a boring white nightgown, it had no shape to it at all & I had on black leather thong (between the toe, one small step above flip flops) sandals & no jewelry, so the whole thing was a wreck…he thought I looked pretty, but I know the outfit was utter crap. I would have looked better off just wearing jeans! So, I regret it big time, I wish I had just changed my clothes beforehand…Thankfully it was just the two of us there…We plan on having a more traditional wedding somewhere down the line, so I will kind of be able to have a do-over.

I completely regret the shoes I wore at my wedding. We got married in Oahu on a beach and I refused to wear anything but these absolutely gorgeous strappy stilettos that matched my gown perfectly (young & stubborn!) Well, obviously I was miserable in them, not only because I was trying to walk down the “aisle” of sand, but also because they hurt!! I eventually had enough champagne at the reception and took them off. If I could do it over I wouldn’t have worn any shoes 🙂 I don’t know what I was thinking…

If she’s going to regret something, it should be constantly dressing that kid like he’s in a production of Oliver Twist.
