Kate Gosselin Files For Divorce

Update: On the June 22 episode, Kate said the following: "Over the course of this weekend, Jon's activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children. While there are reasons why it was appropriate and necessary for me to initiate this proceeding, I do not wish to discuss those reasons at this time, in the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably between Jon and myself. As always, my first priority remains our children."

Jon followed up with his statement: "This afternoon, Kate filed for divorce. Our kids are still my number one priority. I love them and want to make sure they stay happy, healthy and safe. My job is being the best, most supportive and loving father that I can be to my kids, and not being married to Kate doesn’t change that."

Fans of Jon and Kate Plus Eight won’t be surprised to hear that after ten years old marriage, the couple is calling it quits. Sources close to PEOPLE report that “documents to initiate a legal split were filed in Pennsylvania Monday [June 22] afternoon.”

On May 25 when the fifth season of their reality show premiered, the Gosselins’ admitted that there were problems in the marriage and that they didn’t know where their relationship was heading. “Parents of multiples have triple the divorce rate,” said Kate. “I was thinking we were going to beat that. I don’t know if I can say that anymore.” Jon recently told PEOPLE that he wanted a less “high-profile” life, while Kate remained committed to their television career.

Parents to the famous eight – five year old sextuplets, Aaden, Collin, Joel, Alexis, Hannah and Leah and eight year old twins, Mady and Cara – Jon and Kate have both been very vocal about their commitment to their children.

Some reports claim that Jon is planning a move to New York – possibly into Trump Place.
