Madonna: Lourdes Might Be An Actress

Considered one of the most influential women in contemporary music, Madonna has been known for continually reinventing her music and image. Not only is she the best-selling female rock artist of the 20th Century, the 51-year-old Material Girl is also mom to four kids: Lourdes, 12, Rocco, 9, David, 4, and Mercy, 3. The Queen of Pop opened up to PopEater about her busy life, her 12-year-old daughter Lourdes, the possibility of more children, and her upcoming projects.

On Lourdes being in her new video ‘Celebration’: “She hangs out with the dancers a lot. She’s a dancer, herself. The video is about the celebration of music and dance. There’s an improvisational moment when we’re all in a circle and each dancer does their specialty or a special move that they do well. She wanted to do hers, so she did.”

On if she thinks Lourdes will follow in her footsteps: “No. I don’t think she wants to be a singer. I think she wants to be an actress.” The Papa Don’t Preach singer went on to say she supports whatever path Lourdes chooses: “I’m fine with it, as long as she finishes school, and takes it seriously. She also plays piano, and she’s really into clothes and fashion and style. She can go in any direction. She’s got a lot of diverse interests right now. We’ll see. I’m not pushing anything. We’ll see what she wants to do.”

On Lourdes always seeming so poised: “Yeah. She’s grown up in the limelight, for sure. She’s been protected, but she’s been chased by the paparazzi since she was a tiny baby.”

On how Lourdes is dealing with being the big sister: “She’s super-sister. She’s amazing with the little ones. She has the typical relationship with her brother, Rocco. They’re like “I love you”/”I hate you” every five minutes. But with the two little ones, she’s great. She’s amazing. Very protective.”

On if she will have more children: “Who knows? [Laughs] Y’know, I have my hands full right now! I have no idea! That’s all I’m going to say. But we never say never.”

On not being able to sit down and relax often: “No, not much. Not with kids and a job. Every once in a while, I have a moment of reflection. It’s usually because I’m forced to look back at it from somebody else’s point of you … or if someone does a retrospective of my career. Then I go, “I did all that?” It’s usually someone else reminding me.”

On her upcoming projects: “I have several projects going. I have another script that I’ve written, and I want to direct another film. Hopefully, I’ll be doing that next year. I also have many, many projects going on in Africa right now that I want to bring to fruition, like building a girls school and working on two new documentaries that I want to make. So, I’ve got lots of projects going.”

Thank you for sharing this great interview with Madonna. She really does represent a time that seemed a little difficult for most of us but yet looking back it was the good ole days. online casino

I think she’s doing a great job with Lourdes. From all various accounts, she’s a sweet, smart girl and I’m glad Madonna is keeping her in school and when she’s adult, she can decide whether she wants to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

I wonder how David is doing with Mercy being the baby and having to share his mom. He seemed very much like a momma’s boy before Mercy, so I hope there wasn’t any trouble adjusting. Mercy seems to be doing well and is going to school with David.
