Jon Gosselin: Stop "Kate Plus 8"

Days after learning that Jon & Kate Plus 8 will continue as Kate Plus 8, PEOPLE reports that Jon Gosselin has demanded through his lawyers to stop the show immediately or face potential criminal charges.

"Effective immediately, no production crews are to enter Jon's family home for any reason," a letter from Jon's attorney says. "In the event that anyone enters the marital property, Jon Gosselin will notify the local authorities to effectuate police action against any trespassers."

The estranged husband of Kate Gosselin is speaking out about his reasons for ceasing production of the show through his manager, Mike Heller.

"Basically we've put a halt on the show," Mike Heller explains. "Jon has been talking to TLC for a long time to cut back on the production and still honor his contract – because it's been getting in the way of his family, his children are complaining. aIt's been hurting the relationship that he's trying to reconcile with his wife – he's trying to get back with her as a parent," Heller adds. "They are the mom and dad of their children [but] they talk by text message. He wants to take 90 days."

Heller goes on to address the rumors that Jon was fired. He also states that Jon has made "mistakes" and is working toward taking "responsibility" for his actions.

"People are reporting he was fired. He was never fired. They just changed the name," Heller says. "This is not a ploy – it's an approach that he thinks will help him reconcile with his wife. He's acknowledged he’s made mistakes and shouldn't have been running around. He took advantage of his freedom after he got it. It hurt his reputation," Heller says. "He's taken responsibility and you don't see him running wild any more. He hasn't been out partying. He's taken a look at his himself in the mirror and he wasn't happy, it's not who he was. He never cheated on his wife. His wife is the one who ended the relationship," he says.

TLC released the following statement earlier today in response to Jon's attempts to end the show:

"We ... remain deeply disappointed at [Jon Gosselin]'s continued erratic behavior. He and the family were shooting as recently as last Friday, without incident, and his latest comments are grossly inaccurate, without merit and are clearly opportunistic. Despite Jon Gosselin's repeated self destructive and unprofessional actions, he remains under an exclusive contract with TLC."
