Report: Nas To Deny Kelis Spousal Support

According to TMZ.com Nasir Jones, aka Nas, has filed legal papers asking that Kelis, 30, be blocked from receiving any spousal support.

The papers, which were filed by his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, also state that the 36-year-old rapper is asking for joint custody of their 3-month-old son, Knight. TMZ.com states that Kelis is asking for $72,728 a month.

Previously it was reported that a judge ordered Nas to pay $30,471 per month in spousal support and $9,027 in child support. No word on the amount of child support that Nas is actually providing.

The couple, who wed in 2003, filed for divorce this past April.

The headline of this post is wrong and really misleading. Only the court (not Nas himself) has the authority to award or deny spousal support. All that happened was he filed a motion *asking* the court to deny support. And the court hasn't ruled on the motion yet, so you have no idea what the result will be - the court could very well deny his motion and leave the support order in place.
