Tobey Maguire Struggled With Latest Film
| Dec 17, 2009 by CAROLYN ROBERTSON |

Tobey Maguire earned himself a Golden Globe nod for his turn as a tormented war veteran in the new film Brothers, but he admits that it was a difficult role for him to play.
The dad-of-two - he and his wife Jennifer Meyer have daughter Ruby, 3, and son Otis, 7 months - says that he struggled with the "dark scenes" he had to share with the two young actresses who play his kids in the film.
"I had to do what I had to do but I was conflicted about it," Tobey reveals. "Despite the fact that you want them to react, I don't want to hurt them emotionally. They were really amazing, mature little girls but at the same time, they're little girls."
Tobey and Jennifer are pictured here at this week's New York premiere of Nine. Congratulations to him on his recent nomination!
