Céline Dion: "I'm Going To Try Until It Works"

After four unsuccessful rounds of in vitro fertilization, Céline Dion is not giving up hope for another baby, she tells People.

"I'm going to try until it works," says the 41-year-old Canadian songstress who has been undergoing the emotional process of giving herself daily hormone shots.

"Five's my lucky number," she adds, "so this is the time it's got to [work]."

While her husband/manager Rene Angélil, 68, says they "go crazy" waiting for the results after each try, Dion – whose new concert film and family documentary Céline: Through the Eyes of the World, will be released February 17 – stays positive and focused on their 9-year-old son René-Charles who is thriving as a second-grader at his new school in Florida.

The best selling female artist of all time also opened up about returning to Las Vegas on March 5, 2011 to begin a new 3-year show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. "It's happening! Great songs, great lyrics. I think it's going to be very touching."

I wish Celine only the best, I truly hope she becomes a mom again. She wants another child so much, she really deserves it. I cannot wait to read the issue of People she's on the cover of. My prayers and thoughts are with Rene and Celine and of course Rene Charles.

All my love to you and your blessed family Celine.

I really feel for Celine. She works so hard it seems, and really wants to have another child. I really hope she can have a healthy pregnancy. Must be heart wrenching to go through in-vitro so many times without success.

If I was Celine and I went to four unsuccessful rounds of in vitro fertilization. I would adopt a baby. Instead of trying over and over again.

Samantha, Celine wants a biological child with her husband. If she wants to keep trying that's her business. No one should tell her she can't keep doing IVF to have a child. That is for Celine, her husband and her doctor to decide.

I agree with samatha. There are so many needy children in the world. I know "not everyone" wants to adopt, but she could make such a difference in someone's life instead of spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on IVF.

She could hire a much younger woman as a surrogate instead of wasting viable embryos since she is not having much success.

Celine doesn't want to "hire" someone else to have a baby for her and she is chosing to have her own child. If she wants to adopt she will, if not she won't. That's her choice. Just leave the woman alone and let her decide what is right for her and what she want's to do.

If it doesn't work in future tries, why not adopt?

SJPLuva, calm down. A woman her age has declining egg quality and seems to have trouble with implantation. A surrogate is a viable, pragmatic option to have a biological child with a limited number of embryos. I don't know why you would put the word hire in quotes, it is not anything that should make a person feel any less of a mother or that they have outsourced something so intimate. It is a good option for many women who want a biological child.

Don't tell me to calm down, I'm perfectly calm I just don't like people thinking they can tell Celine what she should and shouldn't do when it comes to her having a child. If she wants to have a child through IVF and wants to keep trying then let her.

Ava said:

Well, alrighty then. Since none of us are her closest friends or IVF specialists, we can safely assume that this is a general discussion about a public figure who makes her fertility struggles public. We can no more stop her than ask you to keep it down a notch :)

Just words on screen.

Oh whatever, you people are acting like I'm screaming my head off or something *rolleyes*

Who cares? Her husband is getting older anyways. If she does get pregnant he probably won't be around to see the 2nd kid grow. And if he is he'll look like his grandfather.
