Céline Dion On Miscarriage: "It's Life"
| Feb 11, 2010 by JENNY SCHAFER |

Further to her candid interview yesterday, legendary musician Céline Dion sat down with talk show queen, Oprah Winfrey, and continued to share her struggles with infertility.
In discussing her miscarriage, the French Canadian songstress told Oprah that she isn't giving up hope.
It's life, you know? A lot of people go through this. We tried four times to have a child. We're still trying. We're on the fifth try, and I'll tell you, if five is my lucky number, this fifth try has got to come in."
Céline didn't feel comfortable coming out with the miscarriage news right away since the initial reports of her pregnancy were still fresh. "They said that I was pregnant, and a couple of days after, we were not pregnant again. We didn't want to feel like we were playing yo-yo. 'I'm pregnant. I'm not pregnant. I'm pregnant. I'm not pregnant.' So we didn't want to do this thing. But we did have a miscarriage."
The 41-year-old Power of Love singer said she and husband of 15 years, René Angélil, 68, try not to let fertility issues affect their relationship."I don't think a child [or] a pregnancy should make anything stronger or weaker. A child is not there to fix a marriage, to bring happiness. Let's not put pressure on children."
When faced with hard times, Céline said her friends, family members and fans have been a comfort to her. "I think I have an amazing relationship with my family, with my friends, and I have to say, with my fans. I have an amazing and special bond with people. They care. They mind. They feel for me, and I just want you to know that I appreciate that tremendously. I will be the happiest one to tell you when I'm pregnant, and if not, I'm the luckiest artist, wife and mother of a wonderful son."
Céline told Oprah that after years of home-schooling, their 9-year-old son René-Charles is now going to school - and loving it!
"This love of our life finally has his own life. He's got his own school, his own friends, his own teacher. We wake up in the morning. We drive him to school every day. He's so proud to wear his uniform."
And when playing "pizza mom" at R.C.'s school, Céline is in all her glory.
"I love it. I mean, it sounds kind of simple. You give pizza to all the children, but I get to be in the classroom. I get to know the environment of my child. We call it a normal life, for most of people, but for me, it is extraordinary."

Her son has cut his hair it looks much better now.
OMG people PLEASE do not start in with the hair comments, we know he had a haircut lets leave it at that. It was for school he had no choice.
Now that I've said my peace I want to say I watched Celine on Oprah yesterday and she was very strong. She's had time to deal and heal from her loss and I find it so brave that she came out and talked about the miscarriage. I truly wish her all the luck in the world for having a second baby.
Celine Dion is just one of the classiest women around! Love her! And her son is gorgeous!!
If you really read and listen to what she has to say it just amazes me. She has such wisdom.
SJPLuva, you said your 'piece', not 'peace'. and everyone is entitiled to their opinion, lighten up.
her sons hair looks really nice, that's a good look for him.
hopefully celine gets her baby, whether it's naturally, through a surrogate, or adoption.
No your wrong I said what I wanted to, therefore I said my peace and that's that.
no sweetie, lol. that doesn't make any sense. the word 'peace' is not used that way. we know what you meant, just trying to help you out a little so you dont make yourself look stupid in other non-internet writings.
Way to sound condescending.
if SJPLuva wants to make fun of everyone else's comments in every post, she's going to get made fun of too.
right because those posts are the stupidest ones made on the internet or this site, uh no. I've seen stupider things posted here and elsewhere.
He's a gorgeous little boy and the little video he made for Celine on the show was hilarious.
^^I LOVED that video! I've barely heard RC speak other than a few things in french and he was singing a song with words he made up in the car on a dvd but his english suprised me! He sounded SOOO grown up, totally different from his french! He usually is VERY shy around camera's so I was a bit shocked he was soo excited and willing to be videotaped.
I think it's great that she is so open about the struggles they've gone through trying to conceive. She seems like such a genuine person, and a loving mom too. Best of luck to them.
She should just adopt!
That isn't the answer for everyone. Adoption costs twice as much if not triple what IVF does and yes yes I know Celine has all the money in the world and its not a problem for her but for other people it may not be affordable. Celine has never mentioned adoption or a desire to adopt but she has also never mentioned being against adoption. What is so wrong with her wanting a biological child with her husband?
Not everyone wants to adopt or finds that to be a simple solution. If she wants to try so hard for a child then she has that right. Who knows. Maybe she plans to adopt when she is certain she can't conceive.
I couldn't agree more, if she wants to adopt she will, if she doesn't she won't and its not just the simple answer your right. Not everyone can chose to adopt or afford it. I know Celine can but did anyone ever think that it might not be what she wants?
Sorry adoption isn't all that easy. My youngest granddaughter is adopted and it didn't happen over night. It cost $22,000 (Oklahoma) and that was not paying the mothers medical (she had insurance) and NOT paying the mother any money. Add to that the shortage of young children (they wanted one younger than their son who was 4 as that would be in keeping with what would be their natural birth order. No they didn't specify a baby, just under 4. Invitro would have been cheaper for my daughter.
i had a miscarriage at 12 weeks with my second child.i have since been blessed with a 3rd in march 2010.on finding out i was pregnant i thought of her/him as a baby.you must never ever give up hope and keep a faith.afterall when hope is gone what have we left.ive got a gorgeous baby girl and a gorgeous twenty year old daughter.keep trying.xxxxxxxxxx
