Christina Applegate Wants Babies

Actress Christina Applegate says that her battle with breast cancer left her with a new perspective on life.

The 38-year-old Samantha Who? star, who underwent a double mastectomy in 2008, tells In Touch, “You look at life a little bit differently. You don’t let any stress into your life, and you do a total 180 from where you were.”

Christina reveals that she feels a new drive to reach her goals, which include working with Meryl Streep, traveling to Greece and jumping out of an airplane! Oh, and there’s one more: “And babies, lots of babies. Well, not lots of babies, but a couple!”

Christina is dating musician Martyn LeNoble, of whom she told People last year, “He’s been a friend for about 13 years. Our relationship gets stronger and stronger. I’m really lucky.”

Isn’t it harder to conceive after you’ve had cancer?

It depends on what type of treatment she had. Chemo is usually the thing that affects fertility. Surgery shouldn’t. I’m not sure about radiation. However, even if she had chemo, it’s possible she may have made arrangements to get around it beforehand. I have a friend who has to undergo medical treatment that will affect her fertility, so she is basically doing the first round of IVF (having eggs extracted and creating and freezing embryos) beforehand. After her treatment, once she is healthy again, she will hopefully be able to use the frozen embryos to get pregnant. It’s certainly possible Christina did something similar.
