Bristol Palin: “Levi Johnston Is A Stranger To Me”

After weathering scrutiny as a pregnant teenager during her mother’s vice-presidential campaign, Bristol Palin is now creating her own path as an independent single mother. Harper’s Bazaar captures an intimate family scene with Bristol and her 1-year-old son Tripp in a charming tea party-themed fashion spread. The 19-year-old single mom talks about her ex-boyfriend Levi Johnston and how she supports herself and her young son.

On being pregnant during her mother’s 2008 presidential campaign: “It’s not like we all sat down and were like, ‘Alright, here’s the birds and the bees.’ Truly, my parents just assumed that I wasn’t doing anything. And it was a shock for us all. It was kind of humiliating. . .Great, I’m 17 years old, I’m 40 pounds overweight with a big belly on me, all my friends are at school watching this on the news. This kind of sucks.”

On ex Levi Johnston: “I just ignore it. He is a stranger to me. I don’t want to get into it. It’s just dirty laundry.”

On supporting herself and Tripp: “I’m on my own. I’m really proud of it. I’m a hard worker. I don’t have time for friends or anything like that. It’s just like, Right, crap, there is a hockey game tonight that I want to go to but I can’t. Or, I do have to go to work today, because I’ve got bills to pay.”

On ex Levi Johnston I just ignore it. Bristol can’t ignore Levi because he’s going to be in Tripp life. She has to deal with him for the rest of her life.

“Truly, my parents just assumed that I wasn’t doing anything. And it was a shock for us all.”

Yeah, that’s what happens when parents bury their heads in the sand. So much for abstinence only “education”…

Well, I’m just going to bypass any criticism and say that that main photo of Bristol and Tripp is absolutely beautiful. He looks like such a gorgeous, fun little guy 🙂

Props to Bristol for keeping the baby when she knew she would get judgmental people sprouting smack on forums just like this…
