Molly Ringwald: Motherhood Changes Your Priorities
| May 28, 2010 by CAROLYN ROBERTSON |

Actress and mom-of-three Molly Ringwald can add author to her resume now that her new book, Getting the Pretty Back, has hit bookshelves. The Pretty in Pink star, who has daughter Mathilda, 6, and twins Adele and Roman, 10 months, recently chatted to Canadian magazine Chatelaine about motherhood, career and what it means to be an "It woman."
On how motherhood has changed her life: "As everyone says, everything just comes into sharp focus and your priorities shift. Your sense of timing changes, and everything's not quite as spontaneous as it used to be, which is fine. It forces you to plan a little bit more. Those are the main things."
On why she wrote her book: "I wanted to write a book about being an It woman rather than being an It girl, but not be too serious about it. I also wanted to write about my personal experience, and that's why it's broken into chapters such as fashion, family, motherhood, fitness."
On her best piece of advice: "The most important thing you can do is believe in youself. It's not always the easiest thing to do but it's so important in terms of style, in terms of jobs, in terms of what you want to put out there. Whatever gets you there, whether it's meditation or more schooling or whatever, confidence is the most important thing."
