Josie Duggar Released From Hosptial

After spending nearly five months in the neonatal intensive care unit of an Arkansas childrens’ hospital, the youngest child of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, Josie Brooklyn, has been released from the hospital. Mom Michelle told PEOPLE of the good news,

We’re so happy that she’s doing so well. She’s finally home, home, home.”

Josie was born at 25 weeks gestation weighing only 1lb. 6oz., and soon after suffered from a perforated bowel. After a brief release from the hospital, she had to be readmitted as her vital signs were low.

She is now up to 7 lbs. 6 oz. and a diagnosis has been made on her condition. Josie’s physician Dr. Robert Arrington revealed, “Her digestive issues have been linked to lactose intolerance. We are happy that she is doing so well and fully expect her to continue to thrive. Today, as she’s leaving, she looks like a full-term baby.”

Though Josie has been cleared to go home, Michelle has said that they will remain close to the hospital for a few weeks, “We’re going to wait and see how it all goes. We’re going to take it easy and hang out close to the hospital.”

Life with a micro preemie is bound to be interesting and hard, and I hope that little Josie beats the odds and grows up a happy and healthy girl.

    Best of luck to them!

It is great that she is so proud that she had a child same time as her GRANDSON WAS BEING BORN …Yes folks she is a granma and she wanted
to upstage her son’s child by having another kid..isn’t just great…grandchild
will be the same age as his aunt ..!!!Talk about selfish or what.. you say that
Kate is making a big deal !!What about this mother..who has 19 kids now..

correction: they have a granddaughter not a grandson 🙂
which is interesting because they have josie, their granddaughter, and the last three little girls they had before josie. i guess josie has plenty of playmates

Good! Now the new baby will be well enough to be taken care of by her sisters while Michelle pushes out another baby that she passes off to her daughters.

Jim Bob should sleep in the boys room.

HAHAHA that made me laugh so much. Not a bad suggestion, actually… 🙂

I’m glad to hear that Josie is coming home healthy! As the aunt to very premature twins, I definitely feel for what they’ve gone through.

i think she should stop having babies maybe this baby was a sign to have no more!!!!!

I’m glad that Josie is healthy enough to go home, and I wish them all the best. Whether or not you agree with the Duggars’ decision to have so many children shouldn’t stop us from wishing the little one and the Duggar family well.

Rumor has it that Michelle might be pregnant again. Any word on this?

    • Lucia R

She’s not a bad mother . . . She has been so focused on Josie that I doubt she would get pregnant during the time when Josie was in the hospital . . .

Also, we would hear about it officially instead of just rumors. They always announce their pregnancies right away.

I think she should quit while she is ahead after all she is what 40 something I don’t think that is fair too all the other children because the other children need to have there own lives too.

If the only issue that little Josie has is lactose intolerance, I’d say that’s one heck of a miracle baby! The power of prayer isn’t bullshit, people. Best wishes to the Duggar family…

The power of prayer would be nothing without the power of medical science to back it up.

The power of medical science IS a prayer answered!!!!

In that case, a lot more prayers being answered now than in say, medieval times, I’d imagine.

We’re hoping that we can get together with Octomom for a playdate!

They should seriously stop having any more children…especially after this experience.

They kind of made it our business by letting us veiw there show!!! Other wise nobody would anything about them.

I don’t recall the duggars ever having asked for a babysitter or a loan from any of the many people who post rude comments. They take care of their own responsibilities, so keep your nasty thoughts to yourself.

I am so happy for all of the Duggars, Josie is a miracle!
What seemed like a tragedy in December has been transformed.

I predict Josie will be spoiled rotten by the family and who could blame them?

Who has the right to say ANYTHING about how many children anyone should have. Having 11 siblings, I can relate. Yes, we all helped out, but not out of duty, OUT OF LOVE for one another. Unselfish, is how we were brought up and to this day, whenever someone is expecting a baby in this family, the news is welcomed with the utmost excitement. To give another person LIFE…
Just lost our Mom at 86 years old and miss her dearly. One of the saddest things for all of the Duggar children will be losing EACH OTHER as time goes on. Lost one of my brothers to pancreatic cancer and am still devastated. Thought we would all grow old together. We have been blessed and always have each other to lean on and depend on. The Duggar family have my thoughts and prayers.

My mother is one of 16 children (second to the olderst) and to this day everyone of her siblings stay in contact with each other. Yes, the older ones helped with the younger ones. I have never heard my aunts or uncles complain about having to care for the younger ones.
