Michael Douglas On Cancer: "I'll Beat This"
| Sep 1, 2010 by HEIDI ORAN |

Veteran actor Michael Douglas has opened up to People about his battle with throat cancer, which he learned of in early August.
Douglas is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, and said of the process, "It's a fight. It really knocks you out."
Wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, whom Douglas is frequently heard gushing about, also shared, "The hardest part is seeing his fatigue, because Michael is never tired."
The couple took a straightforward approach when revealing the news to their young children Dylan, 10, and Carys, 7. Zeta-Jones said, "Daddy sat them down and told them he has cancer now."
Douglas touched on his year thus far, calling it a "tough" one, after watching his 31-year-old son Cameron (from a previous marriage,) be sent to prison for drug possession and dealing.
In an interview with David Letterman via PopEater, Douglas also revealed further details of the stage four cancer, saying that it has remained above the neck, giving him an 80%+ chance of recovery. He also said that he believes years of drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and stress were contributing factors to the throat cancer.
Zeta-Jones and Douglas, who said that he will "beat this," will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary on November 18th.
