Mario Lopez On Daughter Gia: We Thought We Were Having A Boy

For first-time dad Mario Lopez everyday is full of surprises. But probably nothing compared to the surprise he and girlfriend Courtney Mazza got on the day their daughter Gia was born – they thought they were having a boy.

“My girl thought we were having a boy the whole time,” the Extra host told

And when the couple realized they had a daughter, Mario couldn’t stop laughing. “I found it funny,” he said. “I don’t know why!”

The new parents adjusted quickly, though, and set about re-decorating their blue-hued nursery. “There’s pink everywhere!” he laughed. But the confusion hasn’t affected Gia, nearly 3 months, one bit. “She’s awesome,” Mario said. “She’s all about sleeping and eating. She has a good life right now. I’m envious.”

Am I the only one watching their reality show that thinks these two are headed towards splitsville? Mario fills the air with incessant inane chatter in every scene, and his baby mama whom he’s dubbed “Massa” just tries to get a word in edgewise and some attention.

Of course they’ll split – weren’t they only together a few months when she got knocked up? I like her but he just seems like such a self centered jerk. He has to call her by her last name b/c he couldn’t picture himself with someone who’s name was as boring as Courtney? Jerk.
