Life Goes On alum Kellie Martin and her 4-year-old daughter Maggie were on hand to read the latest Apple Park children’s book in support of Baby2Baby at Fred Segal’s Melrose store on Saturday (December 4).
The 35-year-old mother of one opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her online ExtremeGiving challenge, her adorable daughter who is “really, really excited about Christmas,” and how you can help support Baby2Baby this holiday season.
CBS: Tell us about partnering with Baby2Baby and Apple Park books.
KM: “This holiday season, over Twitter, my blog, and Facebook, I challenged everyone to do one thing each day during the month of December that gives back to their community or simply brighten someone’s day. It’s called ExtremeGiving. I report via photo, video and blog to my cyberfriends about what I do each day and they let me know what they do.
On my first day of ExtremeGiving, I donated a bunch of new and gently used baby gear to Baby2Baby, an organization that collects and distributes baby toys, clothes and gear to families in need around Los Angeles. The folks at Apple Park saw the blog, wanted to get involved, and asked me to help them donate 100 gorgeous organic blankets to Baby2Baby. Which I was more than happy to do!
CBS: How’s your 4-year-old daughter Maggie doing? What is she into?
KM: “My daughter, Maggie, is wonderful. She just turned four, and she’s quite a spitfire – which I love. She has always loved books and is just starting to sound out words now. She’s obsessed with anything Hello Kitty. Oh, and she’s really, really excited about Christmas.”
CBS: What are your holiday plans this year?
KM: “We are sticking close to home, where we over-decorate and I cook up a storm. We’re also trying to teach Maggie that Christmas is about giving, not just receiving.”
CBS: Are you hoping to expand your family? If so, would you like a boy the next time around?
KM: “We’re not sure if another baby is on the horizon quite yet. I would be happy with a boy or a girl, although Maggie is very set on getting an older sister – which I don’t think I can make happen.”
CBS: We loved you on Life Goes On! Can we ever expect a reunion show??
KM: “Glad you liked LGO. Some of the best years of my life. I would be shocked if there was ever a reunion, although I would love to see everyone again.”
CBS: What’s up next for you?
KM: “Next up on TV for me is the Hallmark Channel’s Smooch, which will air in February for Valentine’s Day. It stars me and Kiernan Shipka, from Mad Men. It’s really cute.”
Please show your support for Baby2Baby by dropping off gently used warm clothes and unwrapped gifts for their toy drive now through December 20th. Baby2Baby is open Monday and Wednesday 10:30 am – 1:00 pm and is located on 5522 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90019.
