Michelle Williams Will Watch ‘Brokeback Mountain’ With Matilda

Michelle Williams graces the January cover of Angeleno and opens up about her 5-year-old daughter Matilda. Williams, a Golden Globe nominee for her role in Blue Valentine, says one day she will watch Brokeback Mountain with her.

She says of meeting Heath Ledger, “I was just an actor who happened to be lucky enough to be in the right place, and it was the place where I met Matilda’s father, and that is a lot. It was a lot. And it will be a lot for Matilda too, when she gets around to watching it. I will watch it with her, when she’s ready. It is hard to imagine what that would feel like, but one day, yes, we will watch it together.”

The actress also talks about how Matilda is maturing.

She explains, “Her hair is down to her chin and she has decided she can have her bangs trimmed, but she doesn’t want a bob anymore.

“A bob is cute for a three-year-old but she is five now… It’s crazy how fast time is going for me and how agonizingly slow it is going for her. When she was four she would say ‘I am four and a half,’ ‘I am four and five-sixths,’ ‘four and seven-eighths,’ because all the increments mattered.”

Williams also feels like she’s growing up too.

I’ve done a lot. I have taken on a lot of things earlier than would be the standard in terms of working, of being in a serious relationship and having a child. I was 25 when I had Matilda and so I feel like I have caught up to myself, and 30 feels like a number that maybe matches all those things a little bit better.”

I have nothing but respect for Michelle Williams. She makes every effort to keep Matilda out of the public eye and raise her as a normal child. The few times we do get to see pictures of the adorable little girl, she’s with her mother, doing absolutely normal everyday things. Michelle has done an amazing job of keeping balance for Matilda….she spaces out the acting jobs she takes, she lives away from Hollywood, she’s even discussed moving to upstate New York if the paparazzi get more intrusive….and yet, she will always get slammed for “announcing things” even though she is a very private person and rarely does interviews…..she does happen to have a movie that is getting a lot of award buzz coming out, so she is expected to do publicity for it folks…..and like it or not, reporters will always ask about Heath and questions about Heath will lead to questions about Matilda and how she is adjusting as she grows up…..cut Michelle some slack people

so agree. I think she’s doing wonderfully. I obviously don’t know them but Matilda seems so happy when you do see pictures of her and Michelle is a single mother and poor Matilda will never remember her daddy. And as far as I’m concerned she doesn’t do interviews oftens so I’ve rarely heard her speak of Heath.

personally, i think michelle is a highly respectable person, both as an actress and as a mother. she seems like the kind of person who is down-to-earth and pretty reliable. obviously i don’t know her in person, but i believe that she is someone who loves her daughter very much and protects Matilda in every way possible.
losing a father is a very difficult thing i’m sure, so maybe people should stop being negative and acknowledge the fact that michelle is brave enough to raise her daughter well and provide Matilda with the best even though she will never see her father again
