Katie Holmes Talks Suri & Style In ELLE
| Jan 5, 2011 by CAROLYN ROBERTSON |

Cover girl Katie Holmes strikes a sultry pose in the February issue of ELLE magazine. In the interview the actress and designer talks about her love of fashion - something that is already being passed down to her 4-year-old daughter Suri.
On Suri's eye for fashion: “The other day we came out of a store, and she said, ‘I want to go there,’ pointing at another store quite a distance away. In that store was the dress that she wanted. I said, ‘Wow, Suri. You’re something. You picked that out from a football field away.’”
On her junior stylist: “[Suri will] really tell me [what she thinks]. Like today I’m wearing brown suede pants, and she said, ‘I don’t like your pants.’ But then she’ll say, ‘You’ve got to wear these shoes.’ Or ‘That’s so pretty, Mom.'"
On her latest role, portraying Jackie Kennedy Onassis: “I didn’t realize that she had lost a child in August and then [Jack] was assassinated in November. I couldn’t believe it. She had so much strength….I loved her love of family, how important it was for her to be a good mother.”
On the paparazzi: “I don’t worry so much. It is what it is, and it’s fine. I’ll go somewhere because I need to get something done.”

very interesting story on Suri
I don’t understand why a four-year-old little girl cares so much about fashion. What four year old point to a store and picked what she wants. What little girl tells their mother what to wear? Katie listens to advice from a four year old. Most four cares about Winne the pooh puppy and dolls not about fashion.
Are you kidding me? Four year old little girls love clothes and dressing up! My 2 year old daughter constantly points to clothes at stores and exclaims, "I like it."
A lot of little girls are very into what they wear and like to pick out clothes, jewelry for mommy...even so much as being involved in the make-up.
...people don't give young children enough credit for knowing what they like at that time of their life, that's why Shiloh gets so much crap too.
Kids know, what they find attractive from very early on...I personally hated clothes in general and thought nudity was best. LOL
What a joke! Katie sounds like a ditz!
Now that's something to be proud of...!
At first glance Katie looked like Jaclyn Smith (of Charlie's Angels fame) which is a compliment for Jaclyn who is 65. As for Suri dressing her mother, well, it shows, what more can you say at this point? A woman completely devoid of any personality who's life is ruled by a weird husband and his "religious" beliefs and a bratty 4 year old.
Please don't insult our Texas beauty Jaclyn, who's a true beauty at any age!!!!
I have a 22 month old little girl and she loves shoes purses and dresses, she picks out shoes she likes when we are at the store. She isn't a spoiled brat it is just part of who she is, she also likes baby dolls and her brothers hot wheels. My son also helps pick out his clothes he is the same age as Suri and only wants to wear t-shirts. He doesn't like anything with a collar, but he does get dressed up for church. Let kids be kids!
Wow, calling a child a brat because she likes clothes? My daughter is almost six and she loves shopping♥ I guess she's also a brat *smirks* I also don't see how wanting nice things is shallow either. Clearly some of you need to pick up a dictionary more often.
Wanting 'nice' things or making clothes a high priority is pretty shallow. There are so many other things in life that are more important!
This woman has been on every worst dress list for the last couple of years and she is bragging that her 4 year old tells her what to wear it easy to see why she on those list. How can she have her on clothing line when she doesn’t dress herself? It seem like someone else is going to do all the work why Katie take the credit.
Just because some of you have kids who pick out clothes and like nice things at a young age doesn't make it "normal". It is NOT normal for kids that age to start picking out fancy clothes. Let's face it - this kid is a self centered spoiled brat and this attitude is brought on by her idiot parents.
Could you define what is normal? I mean all children are different, so really everything is normal with kids when it comes to what they like and don't like!
Maybe that explain why Katie looks like a hot mess sometimes when she steps out of the house...Suri picked out her clothes!!!!!
How bizarre that she puts so much stock into what a four year old wants. The more I hear about Suri the more I think she is a total brat. Katie needs a serious reality check - things are not right there!
Poor Katy. She use to look so youthful and full of life. Now she just looks so dry and lifeless. Wonders whats really going on inside of her that she is truly hiding. Its like the true beautiful women that we once knew isnt there anymore. SO Sad.
Yeah, I'm sure Suri looks at the price tags and begs her mom not to shop at walmart. I am just saying some kids are picky about what they wear, not all. I do agree that it's odd that Katie takes fashion advise from a four year old, but it's not weird for a child to be picky.
Did one of the commenters really say that Suri should be "serving" at a homeless shelter or an orphanage? This is an unusual request of a 4 year old child. Maybe she could help build homes for Habitat for Humanity - i'm sure she's great with power tools!!! Lets get our preschoolers out there making a difference - right? How about we just let kids be kids and get a good education so they don't end up on the streets themselves? Just a thought.......
dumb broad!!!
yea katie always looks like a mess. suri should be embarresed by her fashion picks since she is so talented and all! other than that i do view fashion as an art, and just cause you like clothes does not mean you are a brat. i does appear that suri is growing up with a sense of entitlement. hopefully she won't disappoint!
I'm going to help you all out. The definition of brat is,"An ill-behaved child".
You would have to live with her to know if she fits that name. I find her to be sweet and normal, I just wish she would comb her hair back out of her eyes.
My granddaughter loves clothes, handbags and shoes. It's in the genes. Now that she's in school she knows what the word SALE means. That's when it gets hard to hold her back. She's only 5 years old now and has four years practice.
You find her to be sweet and normal? Do you live with her, no! It goes both ways, dear. Thanks for helping us ALL out!
Suri is a brat, but she is the ruler of our planet, let her be, her zombie mom is her keeper!!!
This is so sad...there is 0% chance Suri will grow up to be anything close to "normal" in our society. She is on such an incredibly high pedestal, and she has been since she was born. The hero worship Katie is doing is just bizarre -- she's always treated her like a mini-adult, and it's just bizarre.
I grew up with Katie (we attended high school and did ballet together for years), and she passed the point of envy for all of us about 5 years ago...no one from our circle of friends would want her current life. The control/spell she's under is terrifying.
She looks different. Did she get a nose job? Well, another nose job.
If this was Angelina Jolie you people would be all over her praising her awesome parenting skills. But oh the horror, it's not Angelina, so it's a parent who needs a "reality check."
I'm not a Katie Holmes fan nor an Angelina hater but you people are pathetic.
Why bring Angelina into this at all, and you say you have nothing against her, you're full of it!!!! Katie & her brood are weird!!!!
Honestly, I like Katie Holmes sense of style...if she isn't on a red carpet she dresses comfortable, like she has things to do and isn't out to impress the sheep.
....and her kid just seems to have a normal little princess attitude, at the age of four that is about as normal as it gets.
I think these people actually tend to look like relatively common folk for the amount of money they possess, what's really wrong with that...why do people expect celebrities to always dress up for the public's sake?
...would everyone be happier if she looked like Beckham all the time, that woman looks like she'd crack if she smiled.
Not to mention the shoes, I like that Holmes wears raggedy old tennis shoes and stuff. LOL
Wow, Katie looks GORGEOUS! She is finally all grown up and just absolutely stunning. I initially mistook this picture for Rene Russo, another drop-dead beauty.
I think Katie looks beautiful and my Daughter is four and tells me what she wants to wear or see's something in a store and wants it, there is nothing wrong with that. Suri seems like adorable little girl.
Could you PEOPLE PLEASE REMEMBER your commenting on a four year old little girl!!! Who say's some of the things written above about a Child? Say what you want about her Parents but leave the hateful comments on a little girl to your sad self!
OK, Suri's parents are clueless! Example, high heels on a small child is totally bizarre! Super short nightgowns in public, bizarre! Bright red lipstick worn out in public, bizarre! Bottle feeding at 4, bizarre! No coat in freezing weather, bizarre! And the list goes on.....
Geeeeeeeez take a breather, it's not your kid!!!
oh, I was adddressing Sara!!! overzealous poster!!
Overzealous poster? Look at all your posts and exclamation points. Take a Xanax.
I think she wasn't writing her comment to you, but to the original post.
Katie looks GORGEOUS! She looks slightly like actress Stana Katic in here, especially on that main pic.
