It sounds like congratulations may be in order for Alicia Silverstone and her husband Christopher Jarecki!

Though the former Clueless star has yet to confirm the news, X17online.com is reporting that the couple have welcomed their first baby, writing that the 34-year-old actress and author “had a water birth at an LA-area birthing center on Friday” and is already back at home.

Married for 5 years, Alicia and her hubby announced the pregnancy back in January.

“I’ve been wanting to have a baby since I was 2 years old,” she said in an interview just last year. “I’m destined to be a mother.”

Stay tuned for more details…

Bear Blu? What an awful name for a baby.

  • Desiree Fawn

    Cute name!!

  • Sammy

I wonder if they took inspiration from Jamie Oliver’s son, Buddy Bear?

I’ll never understand these crazy celebrity baby names – never!

    Bear Blu? Wow. Poor kid.

Pathetic name. She looked like a slob the entire pregnancy and now named this poor child a stupid name. FAIL.

I’ve defended some crazy names. In fact I LOVE unique names. Hey, I even defended Bandit, but Bear is stupid. It’s Apple, Pilot Inspector, Audio Science stupid. Worse than stupid, it feels like she just wants the attention. Like she thought, “Hey I’m a C-list star who is suddenly getting all kinds of attention so after having a new age birth that I’ll talk about endlessly, I should name my kid something really dumb so I’ll stand out.” If she were just a really creative type of person, I might buy she wanted a creative name, but Bear is trying too hard. So if she only named her child Bear to get attention, she’s just being selfish.

    I hate hippies.

    Wow!! Talk about venom…happy much?

  • Tazina

I don’t think it’s venomous. People are just reacting to what they think is a stupid name to give a child who will have to live with it for the rest of his life. When celebrities start naming their children after forest animals, you can’t really blame people for reacting to their choice.

It wasn’t just about the name…it was about her being a “slob” throughout her pregnancy, about her being a “c-list actor” after attention, trying too hard and being selfish about naming her kid a “stupid” name. Call it what you will but the whole comment is just plain nasty! There are a lot of very bitter people who comment on this site.

Bear Blu? seriously celebs piss me off. I mean you have a right to name your kid whatever you want but I swear these parents don’t think about these kids growing up with this name. I mean on his SAT’s he will put Bear Blu as his name, who will take him seriously? Bear for a nickname, okay fine, but geez what happened to unique w/out being stupid!

  • Julianne

    Congrats 🙂
I guess is a boy … i dont really like the name :S

What a god-awful name! Can you see him being taken seriously on college apps or job interviews with that name? Only if he is going to be a porn star.

Anthony Kiedis’ (from Red Hot Chili Peppers) son has Bear as a middle name, as does Jamie Oliver’s son. So it’s not like Alicia Silverstone is the first one using that name 🙂

I kinda like the name Bear. But I have to admit that paired up with Blu… It’s a bit of a tongue twister… But still better than Blu Bear 😀

  • Iris

I’ve always loved unique names. Have been a big fan of Jamie Oliver’s baby names, also Buddy Bear, because Buddy is his first name. But Bear as a first name? Really awfull, poor kid.

At least Anthony Kiedis used Bear as a second name, and the first name, Everly, was cute. BUT Bear as a first name??? no, I really dont like it.

  • SMH

Bear in the Big Blue house is the only thing I can think of lol.

  • Kate

What do you expect from someone like her? She looked like a freaking BEAR all her entire pregnancy… so here you.

omg that poor boy. such an horrible awful name…. poor child of freaky parents..

  • Anonymous

I honestly think the only reason these celebs name their kids these stupid names is because they want attention as if they don’t get enough. They really need to think about their child though… Bear Blu is an awful name. Its beyond stupid and it fits right in with all the other stupid celeb names out there. I could have seen if she named him Blu.. I mean thats not much better but what masculine man (when baby gets older) wants to be called “Bear” … sometimes I wonder what drugs these celebs are on!

  • jacquie109

Sorry but some names should be reserved for pets, Bear is one of them. As a middle name its not terrible, but seriously as a parent you want your child to be unique but not made fun of, right?

  • antigoniem

Call me crazy, but I actually like the name.

  • Lou x

I’m not a fan of the name, but congrats all the same…

What bugs me about the users of this site is how certain celebs get slated all the time – i mean, there are 27 comments so far, a lot of which say Bear would be ok as a middle name. However if you were to look at Jamie Oliver’s birth announcement post for Buddy’s birth, there are hundereds of replies, many of which criticise him using Bear as a middle name. its so contradictary!

i feel sorry for your children if you cant teach them to deal with teasing. news flash people- KIDS WILL MAKE FUN OF OTHER KIDS NO MATTER WHAT!! they will find a reason.
teach your kids to be strong and give the them self-esteem they’re going to need for the rest of their life.
you dont all need to name your kids max and kayla. now THAT”S what’s pathetic.

When I saw the name, I thought it meant it was a boy, not that that was the name. :\
