Penelope Cruz Shares Her Post Baby Body Secrets

As she steps out onto the red carpet to promote her newest film, Pirates of the Caribbean, it’s hard to believe that just four months ago, actress Penelope Cruz gave birth to her son, Leo; especially when she’s been sporting form-fitting ensembles since February’s Academy Awards.

Cruz, 37, says that she hasn’t hit the gym at all. So what’s her secret to looking so fab, so soon (other than Spanx)?

While many celeb moms chalk their svelte post baby bods up to breastfeeding and genetics, Penelope admits that she worked hard to get herself back in shape. But there were no treadmills, weights, or screaming spin instructors involved.

“I love ballet and it’s a little boring for me to go to the gym because I’m used to the dancing discipline,” Cruz tells The Daily Mirror. “It’s really hard but much more fun.”

Of course, diet is also a big factor, and for Penelope, that part came easily, as she already had healthy eating habits. So, rather than obsessing about cutting calories and carbs, Cruz is instead committed to cutting down her workload, allowing her more time to focus on her biggest role yet.

Being a mother changes you immediately,” says Penelope. “It’s hard to explain because it’s so deep. But it’s the most beautiful feeling I have ever had.

“Working as hard as I did is not for me any more,” she adds with a smile. “I was exhausted and had nothing to give. You have to live your life to be able to tell other stories. I’m happy I made that decision.

“I’ve always measured the success of my work by the experience I had, not by how many awards I got. I hope it will stay like that for me.”
