Trista Sutter: “Motherhood Is My No. 1 Job”

Bachelorette star Trista Sutter is one busy mama! The reality TV alum is partnering with goodnessKnows and Denver’s Bike to Work Day to encourage healthy living and environmentally-friendly alternatives. The eco-friendly mom-of-two says, “If they made hybrid or electric mini-vans, I’d be driving one!”

Trista opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about the ways the Sutters stay green, her adorable kids Blakesley Grace, 2, and Max, 4 later this month, their upcoming summer plans and tapping into her creative side with Vintage Couture Inc.

CBS: Tell us about partnering with goodnessKnows and Denver’s Bike to Work Day.

TS: “As a Colorado resident and mom of two, it is so important for me to live a healthy lifestyle – it basically comes with the territory! I was proud to partner with goodnessKnows snacksquares and share in the excitement of Denver’s Bike to Work Day to help inspire others to do so as well.

Although biking to work for me would mean doing circles in my driveway, I am definitely always on the go and goodnessKnows is the perfect naturally nutritious snack to keep me charged up throughout the day. I have also learned a valuable lesson of parenting and that is that snacks make a family happy, so I keep them on me at all times! Even better, with 150 calories per package, I don’t have to feel guilty about eating them.”

CBS: Tell us some of the ways the Sutter family stays green. Do the kids know about recycling? How do you make it fun for the family?

TS: “Living in an environmentally-conscious way is incredibly important for our family. We recycle everything we can, use power cords, buy organic, support brands like Seventh Generation, make sure lights are turned off, unplug anything that is not being used, and use energyStar appliances. If they made hybrid or electric mini-vans, I’d be driving one!

The kids definitely know about recycling and help when they can, by throwing things in the appropriate trash can and breaking down boxes. They also LOVE the book Michael Recycle. It’s a fun story about a recycling super-hero.”

CBS: How are the kids doing? Tell us what Max is into these days. What about Blakesley? Tell us a funny story about your kids.

TS: “The kids – and Ryan! – are the best thing to ever happen to me. They are happy, healthy, creative, funny, thoughtful, curious spirits and although they have their moments, they are true blessings and teach me something new practically every day.

Max (a.k.a. Peanut) is turning 4 on July 26th and for his birthday, we are throwing a Cars party – his favorite right now. Also up there: the color red, his best friend Knox, dinosaurs, riding his Strider bike, and trucks.

Blakesley (a.k.a. baby sister or sweetpea) is basically a shadow of her brother – anything he is doing, she wants to do. Although one thing he is not into that she loves: baby dolls.

Funny stories: a couple months ago, I guess Blakesley’s baby doll did something wrong and she gave her a time out! With Max, he recently learned that he could actually get out of bed and leave his room without calling for me. One morning, I heard him turn off his noise machine (on the monitor), but he never came upstairs, and it had been about 15 minutes. We have gates and he can’t get out the back door, so I wasn’t worried, but I got out of bed, went downstairs, and he had made a makeshift bed with a blankie and a play chair on the floor and said, ‘Oh hi! I was just waitin’ for you!.’ ”

CBS: Is Max getting excited about his upcoming 4th birthday?

TS: “As an uber-fan of Cars the movie, we decided to throw a Cars-themed shindig. Nothing big, just a handful of his friends and their families over for some backyard fun. He is definitely getting excited – I just hope it makes him a happy birthday boy.”

CBS: Any upcoming summer vacation plans?

TS: “Just as with most summers in our house, our schedule is full, but not that we are complaining! As a family, we’ll be heading to St. Louis for my 20th high school reunion, and Leadville, CO for one of Ryan’s bike races. I’ll be heading to Dallas for a meeting with the fashion stylists at Vintage Couture Inc (a children’s clothing line I design for) and Chicago for a charity event.

With Ryan, I’ll be heading to South Carolina for a 1/2 Ironman triathlon, Chicago for the Chicago Triathlon and New York for the Marathon. I’m just thankful we have family nearby and a friend who will stay with our dogs when we are gone.”

CBS: What’s up next for you? Will we ever see you and Ryan (and the kids?) return to reality TV?

TS: “Motherhood is my No. 1 job (and most favorite!), but I also will continue to try to keep busy designing lines for Vintage Couture, working with companies who see working with me as a natural partnership, and of course, being the best wife I can be to my husband of almost 8 years. Reality TV has not been something we’ve considered being a part of on a consistent basis lately, but never say never…”

Why is the picture being showed one from when dancing with the stars premiered. Trista is much older now and looks terrible with wrinkles. Is she proud that she was the first person ever booed off dancing with the stars? ok well whatever makes her happy and gives her the illusion of having done well. Trista – how have you spent the $1 million you mooched off the show…..through your “humble” opinion. Geez. It’s a spit in the face to hard working mothers like me to see this woman pop up everywhere for nothing.

I was wondering if you ever tghuhot of changing the page layout of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?
