A Blue Summer

La, la, la-la, la la… The Smurfs are back! And, perfect timing – it’s summer… the
season of sifting through tons of kid-friendly movies to find one that’s worth the price
of admission that everyone can enjoy. “The Smurfs” will probably be the one that you’ll
be trying to talk your kids into seeing it. After all, you grew up watching Papa, Brainy,
Smurfette, and the gang of blue match wits with the evil sorcerer, Gargamel.

Now you get to see your beloved Smurfs in 3-D live-action, getting smurfy in New York
City. And don’t worry about this full-length feature giving the Smurfs of your youth a
bad name as similar films have done with other retro cartoons. Just take a look at the
star-studded cast beginning with Katy Perry in her film debut as the voice of Smurfette.

The ever-popular NPH (yep, Neil Patrick Harris) also stars as Patrick Winslow, who is
unexpectedly surprised by the tiny blue bunch after Gargamel, played by Hank Azaria,
scares them out of their magical village and into present-day New York City. And if you
listen carefully, you’ll recognize some of the voice talents including B.J. Novak, Fred
Armisen, Jonathan Winters, Kenan Thompson, and more.

The Smurfs hits theaters on July 29th. Watch the trailer at smurfhappens.com, then go “Like” it on Smurfbook. And don’t forget to Smurf yourself at besmurfed.com.
