Heather Locklear: Ava Is "So Excited" About My Engagement

When Heather Locklear said "Yes!" to her beau Jack Wagner's proposal, her 14-year-old daughter Ava was first in line to offer her congratulations.

"Ava was so excited when we told her," Heather, 50, tells People. "She hugged Jack, said congratulations, and she immediately wanted to see the ring. Then she ran and Facebooked her new stepbrother."

The former Melrose Place star, who was married to Ava's dad Richie Sambora for 11 years before they split in 2006, says that her daughter is always her first priority.

"I want her to do what makes her happy," explains Heather. "That's the main point."

Mom's not the only one head over heels these days - Ava has a boyfriend of her won.

"He's tall and plays guitar," the teen dishes. "He's so sweet."

It seems the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree: "She's like, "I like a musician.' ... How weird," jokes Heather. "Where does she get that from?"
