Reese Witherspoon's Online Fears
| Oct 4, 2011 by CAROLYN ROBERTSON |

She may be an Oscar-winner, but actress Reese Witherspoon shares the worries of a lot of moms when it comes to her kids Ava, 12, and Deacon, 7 - like how to protect them from the seedy side of the internet.
"The internet is just so challenging as a parent. Your children are a click away from pornography and paedophilia, and it's just really upsetting," the Water for Elephants star tells Marie Claire. "It feels like a siege. It really makes me upset. You really don't know who they are Skyping with or who they are on Facebook with, and I'm trying to stave all that off as long as I possibly can, but I know it's a reality. It's just inevitable."
Reese, who married agent Jim Toth earlier this year, says she wishes there was somewhere that moms like her could turn for help and support.
"I wish I had some sort of forum for women dealing with this, because I have so many friends who don't know what to do. I just don't know how to parent in the digital age. I'm terrified of it."
Ava and Deacon's dad is Reese's ex, actor Ryan Phillippe.

Her kids were born in the digital age, so she has been parenting in the digital age her children's entire lives. So, she actually knows how to. A forum...like, online? Ahahah I'm just kidding. I get her. She's quite right, but kids already got in contact with pornography prior to the Internet. It's just a new medium. You have to control what they do online, set barriers, and most of all talk and explain to them the consequences of their actions.
