Sandra’s Money Saving Meals host Sandra Lee has cooked herself up a lucrative career as a Food Network star but as the partner of New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo, the 45-year-old entertaining expert has stepped into a new role. In the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the cookbook author opens up about her relationship with Governor Cuomo, her relationship with his daughters, and the secrets behind her success.
On her relationship with the Governor’s daughters: “[I call them] my semi-homemade daughters. Everybody’s cool with it. I absolutely feel like they’re mine when they’re with me. We just have a good time together. I have fun when I get to take Michaela school-clothes shopping. That’s fun for me.”
On the twosome maintaining a very low-key profile: “I have a partner who feels the exact same way as I do about protecting our personal relationship. More than anything now, I feel really lucky to have a relationship that’s just mine and that I get to go home to, that’s a safe haven, and that I have something that’s not the whole world’s too.”
On her successful career: “Why I have had such a huge career and why I have sold over four million book is that people can do what I share with them to do. I think women today are so overwhelmed and overtaxed.”
