Alyssa Milano: “Milo Was A Pro At Latching On”

Since becoming a mom in August, New Year’s Eve star Alyssa Milano has had no trouble when it comes to nursing – thanks to her adorable son Milo!

“I didn’t really know what to expect,” the 38-year-old actress reveals to Best for Babes.”I was lucky to have a baby who from the moment he came into the world, was a pro at latching on. Between Milo and a wonderful lactation consultant from the hospital I was in such good hands. I think the thing I like best about breastfeeding is the closeness I feel to Milo and knowing that he’s getting the best of me. The biggest surprise was how something that is so natural can be so awkward in the beginning.”

Although Alyssa feels very strongly about nursing her sweet son, she admits that it is difficult for her to do in public.

“I wish I could breastfeed in public without feeling as though a picture would show up on TMZ. I’ve breastfed Milo in my car numerous times and in fitting rooms at stores. But mostly, when we go out I bring a bottle of expressed milk because sadly, I’m just not comfortable feeding him in public.”

And where does the mom-of-one go when she needs some general advice, guidance, support or encouragement? Why, to her Twitter followers of course!

“The greatest thing about twitter is the interaction. I can ask a question about anything at all and get a good variety of opinions from everyone,” the star says. “When I tweet about breastfeeding or baby stuff in general, it feels good knowing that women are there to support each other. The mommy club is pretty special and I love being a part of it.”

38????? Looks a decade younger. She will always be little Samantha on Who’s the Boss.

Breastfeeding in public CAN be a little ackward in the beginning in our society. But I bet if she would’ve breastfed Milo in public and there was a pic taken of it, a lot of women would have started to feel a lot better about doing it. Some celebrities don’t understand how much power they have to influence others. But I’m sure she wasn’t thinking about that. All in all, celebrities are still humans like the rest of us, with their insecurities. Kudos to you for breastfeeding Alyssa!

C’mon now. It is NOT up to the Alyssa Milano’s of the world to make anyone feel better about themselves. She has a much different reason for not feeling comfortable nursing in public, and it’s a valid reason. No one is going to run up to YOU and take a photo while you’re nursing. Stop insisting that it’s OTHER people who have to change the world.

I do agree with the both comment above despite one being contrary to the first.

I completely understand Alyssa’s reason to not breastfeed in public. If surges a picture of her doing it, all kinds of reactions appear.
I bet there are people cheering up Alyssa for being a breastfeeding mother but at the same time there will be people bashing her.

There are countries in the world where breastfeeding in public is not seen the same way like in our country. And in even inside these countries there are women who do not feel comfortable doing it for certain reasons.
