Kate Beckingsale's Daughter Was The Reason For Acting Break

Kate Beckinsale took a three-year break from acting to concentrate on spending time with her 12-year-old daughter Lily.

In the March issue of Women's Health UK she says, "I didn't plan on a sabbatical, there just wasn't anything I was dying to do and I have to really make the decision - is it worth me being away from my kid."

Her latest movie Total Recall - also stars Colin Farrell. The actress says working with the Irish actor was "awkward" because of their sex scenes. That's because her husband Len Wiseman directed it. The situation made the 38-year-old actress feel like she couldn't act out intimacy.

I think it was worse for Colin. It's awkward if you have to fondle the director's wife. Especially with Len saying, 'all right that's it, you're fired'."

Beckinsale praised Colin in the interview stating, "He's lovely. He's such a good actor, really professional and a brilliant dad. There's nothing bad you can say about Colin - and he's funny as well. I hate him!"

She also had kind words to say of two other celebrity dads she has worked with - Hugh Jackman and Mark Wahlberg.

Talking about her Van Helsing co-star Hugh she said, “His reputation is as the nicest person in show business and it’s sort of true. And he’s not shy of skipping and stuff. He knows a lot of show tunes.”

As for her Contraband co-star Mark she shared, "He's very manly. And if someone squeezes your boobs at a Katy Perry concert - which is what happened to me in Toronto - I did wish Mark was there because he would have sorted it out."
