Hilary Duff: Rainy Day Dining

Who's afraid of a little rain? Not Hilary Duff, who braved a wet Southern California afternoon – sans umbrella – to grab lunch at a restaurant in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Wednesday (February 15). The mom-to-be had on black leggings and a loose sweater topped off with a colorful scarf.

Hilary is expecting her first child – a boy – with husband Mike Comrie in March. And it looks like Mike will have a lot more time to help out with diaper changes once the baby is born – he made a big announcement earlier this week.

In a statement released Monday, the 31-year-old said he is hanging up his skates and retiring from the NHL, where he most recently played as a center on Canadian team the Edmonton Oilers. Fresh off his third hip surgery in five years, Mike indicated that the procedure had rendered it difficult to continue playing the high-impact sport.

"To have made the lasting friendships I enjoy today with so many of my former teammates is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life," he said. "It's the reward that has made all the hard work, the trades, the moves and the surgeries worthwhile."

Immediately after the announcement was made, Hilary took to Twitter to voice her support. "As many of u know, Mike has announced his retirement. It's a bittersweet day! He had a wonderful career! But 3 hip surgeries in 5 years is a lot!" she wrote.

But the Lizzie McGuire star added that exciting days were ahead. "Today we are enjoying all the great memories Mike had while playing in the NHL! Now we have a big addition coming to our family!"
