Gwen Stefani: Balancing Work & Family Is “A Nightmare”

Juggling a very busy career with motherhood has proven to be no easy task for No Doubt mama Gwen Stefani.

“I’ve never been able to balance being a mum and my singing career – it’s a nightmare,” Gwen, who has kids Kingston, 5, and Zuma, 3, with her husband Gavin Rossdale, tells Closer magazine. “I love my boys, so if there’s a decision to make, they come first.”

The multi-talented mom – she’s a designer as well as a singer – has talked in the past about the challenge of balancing her work and home life:

The thing I’d like to do is enjoy these boys while they’re young—so I don’t regret I was working too much when they’re big and don’t want to cuddle with me anymore,” Gwen said last year. “Being a mother is probably the most challenging thing I do.”

Well it’s a lot harder balancing work and family when you don’t have long periods of time off and can’t afford a nanny.

Try balancing it without nannies and with a middle class income. Welcome to my nightmare Gwen.

LOL – your world and mine too! On a side note, at least SOME celebs openly acknowledge the fact that they have a lot of help and that’s refreshing. Ironically, many of those celebs seem to spend a lot more one on one time with their kids than Gwen who seems helpless without at least one nanny to accompany her everywhere.

Get over it Gwen, your stresses don’t begin to compare to what the majority has to contend with.

Regret working too much? I don’t think working too much is your problem, Gwen. Even when you are “with” your kids, you always seem to be somewhere else (focused on your phone, e-mailing, nails, etc.) and let the nannies do the heavy lifting. Working and having someone else look after your kids while you work is a fact of life for most people. But most parents when they are not working, enjoy alone time with their kids.

OMG, the yenta whiners are out in full force today. Just because someone is rich doesn’t mean they have no stress trying to “balance it all”.

None of you should be complaining. Their are women living in the bush in Africa squatting in the fields to give birth, then getting right back up and working the fields. They have no electricity, no hairbrush, no minivan.

    (Get my point?)
