Mónica Cruz Debuts Baby Bump

It’s a baby bump debut for actress Mónica Cruz.

The lookalike sister of Penélope Cruz stepped out for some retail therapy in Madrid, Spain on Thursday (January 24). The mom-to-be wore a gray top over her barely-there baby bump.

In a blog titled My Life’s Dream, Mónica, 35, revealed her pregnancy news.

“So I’ve decided to talk about it: I have resorted to artificial insemination in order to get pregnant,” she wrote.

“I am going to be a mother! I have managed to fulfill the dream of a lifetime,” she added. “Because of that I want to share with all of you this special journey and to be able to tell you about all my experiences during this fascinating time.”

Good for her on choosing AI. I wish I’d done the same.

Good for Monica for being so open about this! As a 29 year old woman who has found herself single for a number of years, I’ve truly started wondering about when, as a single gal, do you get to this point and come to the tough decision (would be for me anyway) to move forward with going it alone, deciding to let the relationship chips fall where they may after baby arrives? I have never met any women in my personal life who have chosen this path (all but 2 of my female friends are either married or in LT relationships right now) so it’s beyond refreshing to hear another woman talk about this so publicly at a time when AI is just beginning to enter my thought process 🙂 I wonder if any other ladies have done this and wouldn’t mind sharing at what point they just “knew” it was time? That’s the part that trips me up a little. Thanks.

I just came across this lovely article concerning Monica and it definitely helped to answer the big question had in my comment above; Monica’s words are very sweet and inspiring 🙂 I hope it might help someone else as well:

This is so inspiring! I, too, have found myself single but still wanting a family of own. I have definitely been thinking about doing the same thing as Monica. Glad to see someone could be open about their decision to expand their family in this way.
