Audiences first fell in love with Tiffani Thiessen as Kelly Kapowski in Saved by the Bell and later Valerie Malone in Beverly Hills, 90210. Now we love her as event planner Elizabeth Burke in White Collar, and doting mom to 2-year-old daughter Harper. And in case you’re looking for another reason to adore the brunette beauty, she recently kicked off an initiative to help pet owners everywhere emBARK on Pet Health.
Tiffani opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her “passion for pets,” her adorable toddler who “is very much into princesses,” and her upcoming move to NYC to shoot the fifth season of White Collar.
TT: “There are nearly 70 million dog owners and 74 million cat owners in the United States, and while many of these pet owners know it is important to keep their pets healthy, they don’t necessarily think about the things they should be doing on an ongoing basis to ensure that health. I’m joining Sergeant’s Pet Care to emBARK on Pet Health by educating and empowering these families during Responsible Pet Owners month.
The campaign asks pet owners to take a simple pledge to become more mindful of their pet’s ongoing needs at www.embarkonpethealth.com. Each pledge will trigger the donation of a Sergeant’s Pet Health Kit, which with the help of American Humane Association will be sent to help one of the millions of animals waiting for their forever homes at local shelters nationwide.
Sergeant’s Pet Care Products is committed to donating up to 5,000 kits, which will ensure that these animals are sent home with all the products they need to get started on a healthy and happy life together after adoption.”
CBS: Why did you get involved in this project? Are you an animal lover? Do you have furbabies?
TT: “Starting from a young age when my father worked for the city and would bring home many stray cats and dogs, animals have influenced my life.
I currently have three pets of my own that I adopted – Buck and Pearl (both 7) are my dogs and Savannah is my 17-year-old cat. Keeping them healthy and happy is of utmost importance to me, so when Sergeant’s approached me about this program, I was excited to join alongside others who share my passion for pets.”
CBS: How is Harper these days? What is she into?
TT: “Harper is great. She is very much into princesses and wears the dresses pretty much on a daily basis.”
CBS: Do you celebrate Earth Day? If so, what are your plans?
TT: “Earth Day is very important to us. I’ve always been a believer in being green. We as a family recycle. We grow our own veggies and we have water tanks that store rain water and we then use to water our yard.”
CBS: What’s up next for you? More White Collar?
TT: “Yes, we are about to start shooting Season 5 in April. I’m very excited to be heading back to New York.”
