Emme Muñiz: Busy On The Phone

Emme Muñiz was seen having fun with her pretend banana phone in Calabasas, Calif. on Thursday (May 23). The 5-year-old looked as if she was busy in conversation!

Has she been listening in on mom Jennifer Lopez’s business meetings? The singer just announced she has teamed up with Verizon Wireless to launch a new mobile brand called Viva Movil. The phones are aimed at the Latino population.

Lopez said she wanted to create a Latino-oriented wireless experience built in an “organic and natural and honest way.”

“It was a no-brainer to finally cater to an overlooked segment of the population that has emerged, to actually do something that caters specifically to them.”

Emme Anthony? As far as I know, Marc Anthony´s last name is not Anthony, that´s just his artistic name.

A mobile brand for “Latinos”? Stuff like this upsets me like the “BIC Pens for Her” campaign. I didn’t realize that I was buying cell phones this whole time meant for “Non-Latinos”. It just seems patronizing. Believe it or not, I have had the same experience buying and using a cell phone as my friends who are not hispanic. Slapping Jennifer Lopez’s face on it and giving it a Spanish name is not going to make me buy your product just because I am hispanic.

Sorry for the rant, but that just makes me upset.

Funny, I don’t see Jennifer Lopez – i.e. the “celebrity” – in these pictures. Her child is NOT a celebrity and seeking out and publishing photos of her without her celeb parents seems wrong on so many levels.

I agree. She won’t be able to go out in public without being relentlessly pursued by paparazzi and recognized by the public for probably her entire life. And she’s not even a celebrity and won’t be the one profiting. Look at Suri Cruise .

Do Latinos need special phones? Never knew

Maybe the phone will be aimed at providing instructions in Spanish, etc. Not everyone speaks English and not everyone prefers to hear a uniquely white, male, American voice every time they purchase an electronic device. If you’ve never been faced with living as a minority, maybe you wouldn’t recognize the need for a product aimed towards those with similar life experiences as your own.

I’m a French speaking person living in the UK…

I wouldn’t think of having anything in French.. That’s a weird thought. So instead of learning the country language, each community expects to have everything translate in his/her language? The phone has already an “langage option” no? The only thing you hear in English is “you have on new message”.. And that has to do with the phone operator, not the phone itself I think.

Thats a cute dress on Ms. Emme. Anyone know the brand?

Nothing screams “natural and organic” like a mobile phone 😀
