Natalie Portman Had No Idea That Full-Time Mothers ‘Work’

Natalie Portman was 30 years old with a high-profiled career and loads of travel under her belt when she welcomed son Aleph in 2011. However, she admits that she had no idea that being a mother was “work.” Instead, she had some rather problematic assumptions about motherhood.

“I love being a mum, but it’s much more intensive work than being an actress – going to work feels like you’ve got a day off,” the actress reveals. “Not that I want a day off from being a mum, it’s just perhaps I had this impression before that mums don’t work. But they work more than anyone.”

Of course you didn’t, that’s why it puzzles me that people follow and listen to the advice from rich clueless women who give birth.

That was rather rude anon. I think most first time mum’s think this. You look at motherhood and you think it isn’t hard, It isn’t until you are a Mum yourself that you realise how much work it is. I don’t think she is clueless at all.

Please, working for her with the money to afford nannies to make sure her kid has the best of care. She’s totally clueless about this and so much more.

I know that Natalie is a very intelligent woman but she sounds pretty dumb in this interview…hope it was just taken out of context haha

  • I think to be mom is a full time job. There are many women in the world working on their jobs as well as good moms. Natalie can follow them.
