Hugh Jackman: Family Day Out

Hugh Jackman and Ava were seen with his mother Grace walking in New York City on Friday (November 15).

Last year the Prisoners star talked to 60 Minutes about the pain he felt when his mom left him, his dad Chris and his four older siblings when he was a child.

He shared, “I can remember the morning she left, it’s weird the things you pick up. I remember her being in a towel around her head and saying goodbye, must have been the way she said goodbye. As I went off to school, when I came back, there was no one there in the house. The next day there was a telegram from England, Mum was there. And then that was it.

He added, “I don’t think she thought for a second it would be forever. I think she thought it was “I just need to get away, and I’ll come back. Dad used to pray every night that Mom would come back.”

According to another interview with Australia’s Women’s Weekly magazine Jackman’s English-born mother suffered from post natal depression and ‘struggled’ being so far away from home.

This is the saddest thing I’ve heard all day. 🙁

On the surface he’s forgiven her which shows you what a kind and wonderful person he is. But deep down he’s probably never completely gotten over it. Being abandoned like that is perhaps worse than if they died.

Wonder how easy it was to forgive her. He must be a lovely person.
