Bruce Boxleitner: “You Can Do Your Best And That’s All You Can Do”

Cedar Cove star Bruce Boxleitner is set to star in the UP TV World Premiere Movie Silver Bells, premiering this Sunday, December 1st at 7 p.m. EST on UP. This funny and inspiring holiday movie, which also stars Antonio Fargas and Kenton Duty, is a definite must-see for the whole family!

In Silver Bells, Boxleitner plays the role of Bruce Dalt, an ambitious, gung-ho father and local TV sports anchor who approaches the holidays much like he approaches life– competitively. He only cares about securing the best Black Friday shopping deals and winning the neighborhood’s annual holiday house decorating contest. However, everything changes when he gets in scuffle with a ref that causes him to lose his job and get sentenced to community service with The Salvation Army. This movie is sure to help your family get into the true spirit of the holiday season!

Celebrity Baby Scoop recently chatted with Bruce about the movie and what he is thankful for in light of Thanksgiving.

“I am thankful that I am still working,” he said, “I have been at this for many years, almost forty years, and I am very grateful that I have a good career going. I love what I do and the people I get to work with. It’s a blessing.”

The father-of-three, to grown sons Sam and Lee from his first marriage and son, Michael, from his second marriage with ex-wife Melissa Gilbert, also opened up about his parenting style!

“I hope they would say I am a good dad,” Boxleitner said. “I, unfortunately, just got divorced from my younger boy’s mother, but they were never out of my life. I also insisted that I was a part of their life. They always stayed with me as well.”

The talented actor also discussed the importance in keeping everything civil and never bad-mouthing the other parent in light of divorce.

“I always spoke lovingly, never negatively,” Bruce said. “I just wanted my sons to know that things didn’t work out, but the love for them would always be there.”

Bruce went on to share that his own upbringing shaped how he raised his sons.

“I have a wonderful mother and father I’m still blessed to have. They were great parents who did their best. You can do your best and that’s all you can do at the end of the day. You have to try your best.”

The Tron star was also happy to share what he has coming up after Silver Bells.

“I am a backup on the second season of a series called Cedar Cove, which airs on the Hallmark Network. Our first season was two months ago, and now we’re going back for our second season. So that’s coming up and whatever else comes up!”

To watch Bruce in Silver Bells, tune into UP at 7 p.m. EST. Encores of the movie will also air at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST.
