Olivia Wilde: Breastfeeding Photo Was “Organic Moment”

During a Monday appearance on Today, new mom Olivia Wilde opened up about her recent breastfeeding photo in Glamour magazine.

“Usually he has a diaper on,” she said of her 4-month-old son Otis. “And I’ve never looked that good breastfeeding, and I never will.”

Posing for the picture “grew out of a very organic moment,” the Her actress, 30, shared.

She added: “I was working—I was shooting the cover of Glamour, and I needed to fed my son Otis. So he came to work and I had to feed him. Either I was going to do it off camera or on, and I thought, you know what? Shoot it, because this is part of my real life.”

The O.C. alum went on to talk about choosing Otis’ “soulful” name.

“We had battles over other names,” she said, but “not with Otis! I wanted to name him after Otis Redding, and I thought, if you like this one, we’re gonna go with this one!”

As for her best parenting advice so far, the new mom says that patience is key.

“I think patience—patience with yourself, patience with the baby, and understanding that you’re both learning and you’ll figure it out,” she shared. “But it’s just so much fun. Every day’s an adventure.”
