Actor and doting daddy Taye Diggs has a new project on the go these days: Joining the list of actors-turned-authors, the Private Practice star has penned a new children's book titled Chocolate Me. In an interview with Parade.com Taye talks about the inspiration behind the story, and gives us an update on life at home with his wife Idina Menzel and their beautiful boy Walker.

On Walker's Terrible 2s: "Well, I'd be lying if I said he wouldn't be going through them. I'm not sure if they're all terrible, but it's not all sunshine and lollipops. He's become very familiar with the words 'mine' and 'no.' But it's really hard to be annoyed because any time something comes out of his mouth, I am amazed he's a working human being. Sometimes it feels like he's a science project we took a risk on and experimented on and it's all working. We read the instructions and we put it together okay."

Proud papa Taye Diggs showed off his new tattoo on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today (September 30).

In honor of his son Walker's first birthday earlier this month, the Private Practice star had 'WALK' inked across his forearm. The father-of-one also talked about how he and his wife, Broadway star Idina Menzel, rap to their son during diaper changes.

What a cutie! Taye Diggs and wife Idina Menzel welcomed their first child, son Walker Nathaniel, last September. During a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the proud papa showed off the above photo and said that Walker might have an identity crisis in the future.

“I’m worried that he doesn’t know his name because we have so many nicknames for him."

So what are some of their favorites? The adorable 6-month-old is lovingly referred to as Skywalker, Walkman, Walkathon, Little Papa and Swirl. “Because he’s chocolate and vanilla swirl … and then on the back of his head he’s got a little swirl,” the Private Practice star explains, adding, “I love him so much!”

Seems Walker isn't the only one with a new name in the family. “These days my name has turned into, ‘Honey, could you just,’” Taye jokes. “‘Honey, could you just get me some tea? Honey could you just get the baby seat?’ It’s always right when I’m about to sit down. ‘Honey, could you just…’ ‘Yes, baby!’ ‘Honey, could you just…’ ‘Yep, I’m right there!’”

Actor Taye Diggs is in awe of his "warrior" wife Idina Menzel following the birth of their son Walker in September.

In an episode set to air today, the Private Practice star tells Ellen DeGeneres that Idina opted for a natural labor, boasting, "No drugs. She is a warrior."

Taye went on to describe the 8-hour labor: "I was holding her hands and cheering her on. I said I would look two times. I would look when the baby was crowning, and I wanted to look right when [son] Walker came out. And then when he came out, all of a sudden it was like my inner gangster came out. I was like, 'Yeah baby, that's what I'm talkin' about, that's my boy!'"

Walker is the first child for Taye and his Tony-award winning wife, who tied the knot in 2003. The proud papa says that his son's arrival made for a very memorable experience.

"It was crazy," he admits. "I couldn't control myself. It was like the Super Bowl, World Series, World Cup, everything wrapped up into one."
