Sad and surprising news out of Hollywood today: Kate Winslet and her husband Sam Mendes have called it quits after 6 years of marriage.
The very talented duo – she picked up an Oscar for last year’s The Reader, he for directing the 1999 film American Beauty – announced the break-up today in a statement released by their lawyers.
“Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family.”
The couple, who worked together on last year’s critically-acclaimed film Revolutionary Road, are parents to 6-year-old son Joe and Kate also has 9-year-old daughter Mia Honey from her previous marriage to Jim Threapleton.

Kendra Wilkinson was spotted unloading 4-month-old baby Hank from her vehicle at a Los Angeles studio on Sunday (March 14).
The 24-year-old reality starlet was decked out in some comfy sweats as she balanced her son’s car seat against her knees so she could shut the door.
The new mom, who has been married to football player Hank Baskett since last June, recently opened up about her post baby body issues:
I had my friends over, and it was bad timing. They were really hot and had really nice bodies. I was just hoping Hank didn’t look at them! Having a different body was such a culture shock. I’m so used to being hot and fit.

Rielle Hunter, the mistress of John Edwards, opens up to GQ, breaking her long silence regarding her affair with the politician and father to her 2-year-old daughter, Frances. Hunter, who was hired as Edwards’ videographer, said she slept with the politician the night she first met him in 2006. Read on:
On knowing John loves her: “I know he loves me. I have never had any doubt at all about that. We love each other very much. And that hasn’t changed, and I believe that will be till death do us part. The love doesn’t go away. It’s unconditional.”
On becoming pregnant with his child: “He was always very gracious about it. And he always said that he would support whatever decision I made. But I believe on some level he was hoping I would get an abortion.… He wasn’t happy about the timing.”
On why she had an affair with him: “I had never experienced anything like what was flowing between us. I sat on the other side of the room. I wouldn’t go near him….There was sooo much attraction and sooo much…I want to say love, but it wasn’t love at that point…it was just this, this magnetic force field like I had never experienced. It terrified me. And, um, I eventually walked over to his side of the room. [laughs] He was pretty relentless.”

Hot mama! New mom Gisele Bündchen graces the April edition of Vogue and opens up about the “amazing” experience of giving birth to baby Benjamin, how pregnancy was “sacred” for her and how she stays so fit.
On choosing the name Benjamin Rein: “I wanted him to be called River because I wanted something always flowing, immortal. My husband said, ‘There’s no way we’re going to call him River.’ But my father’s name is Reinoldo, so it’s a homage to him. And it’s like water.”
On giving birth: “I wanted to experience the transformation. It was the most amazing experience of my life, feeling him come through my body. And once he was born, I never felt so empowered as looking at him and thinking, Oh, my God, we did it together!”
On only trusting her mother with her newborn son: “I don’t trust anyone else with Benjamin.”
On regaining her figure almost instantly: “I think it’s muscle memory. I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week. I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds.”
On having 2 boys: “I’m so lucky to have my little munchkin, and I have two because I also have John. We don’t see him all the time, unfortunately, but we’re building a place in Los Angeles to be closer to him.”
On remaining out of the public eye during her pregnancy: “I felt like my pregnancy was a sacred moment for me. I stayed in Boston and I didn’t work apart from the contracts I have, and then I only let them use my face.”
