Kate Gosselin: The Kids “Weren’t Ready” To Say Goodbye To The Cameras

Though Jon Gosselin is looking forward to the possibility of his eight children living more private lives after the last episode of Kate Plus Eight airs on September 12th, according to his ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, 10-year-old twins Cara and Mady, and 7-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel “weren’t ready” to say goodbye to the cameras and crew that have been a part of their lives since 2005. And apparently, she’s not exactly ready to let go either.

“I’m freaking out. Big time,” Kate tells People.

But her fears aren’t about life without reality TV cameras. For Gosselin, it’s about life without a job; at least for now.

“I’ve never quit a job in my life without having something else lined up,” says Kate. “I don’t know what’s next.”

As a single mother with a very large house to maintain, Gosselin is prepared to do what’s necessary to keep her children’s lives from dramatically changing.

“I told them I will work my fingers to the bone to make sure that they can stay here and go to their school,” says the mom-of-eight. “There are no guarantees in life for anyone, but they know that I’m giving it my best shot.”

  1. Oh no! Now maybe she won’t be able to live in a mansion, have personal trainers and get weekly manicures. Whatever will she do??

  2. Maybe she will go away now and stop pimping out her kids for money and attention. I liked the show in the beginning when it seemed like you were getting a real glimpse into these people’s live. It only took a few years for it to turn into a money making machine. Now that the kids are older, I am not as interested in watching what they are doing. They aren’t “cute” anymore being 7 and 10.

  3. She should go back to nursing (what she used to do before becoming “famous”). Her and the kids may have to downsize and move into a smaller home and become…. normal people! And, maybe Kate won’t be able to go to the tanning salon anymore, get pedicures/manicures, expensive hair cuts, etc, etc. It’s about time she put her kids first anyway instead of pimping them out on television.

    • Totally agree with you. Can’t believe how much she has changed since watching some old shows of hers. Woman related to her more when she acted like a “regular mom”. Even the stresses were relatable. How can the “average” mother even look at her life NOW and think that’s NORMAL. So glad she’s off TLC. She needs to float back down to earth, take off the designer shoes, put her flip flops back on and BE A MOM not a celebrity.

  4. She is horrible. She probably didn’t save a dime of that money. Wasn’t she getting $1000 hair extensions? Weekly pedicures? She treats the people around her absolutely horribly. No wonder Jon split! Those kids will probably need years of therapy. No doubt she made the TLC people so fed up with her diva behavior that they finally had enough. She is awful. She got so caught up in being a “star” and didn’t realize that she was only being given her 15 minutes. I’m glad she’s off our TVs and I hope she STAYS off.

  5. I read on another site where she’s freaking out about the loss of income. Has she not been saving for the future with 8 kids to put through college? That should have been the priority, not expensive beauty treatments and hair extensions. If she had her way they’d be doing the show for the next 15 years.

  6. oh Kate guess it’s back to the real world of having to actually “work” to make your money!!
I happen to watch last week and this weeks epi (saw the “dramatic” commericial). Once again another hour of Kate being her witchy self yapping orders at everyone. The show has become nothing more then “hi it’s all about me KATE and how I like to boss people around!” Then she complains constantly about people taking her picture and asked her bodyguard to go do something about it! So let me get this straight Kate you want the fame w/out the press? Stop being on tv and nobody would care to take ur photo!

Her kids are no longer cute. They’re whiny and bratty and most of the time just throwing tantrums – apple doesn’t fall far! I’m glad this women is off the tv but I’m sure she’ll weasle her way into some other annoying gig!

  7. This is what happens when stupid people suddenly become wealthy.

Instead of being smart and understanding the fact that this show would not last forever, they allowed themselves to be blinded by fame. Both Kate and Jon should have seen that they have no talents or abilities other than this show to make millions. That’s why they needed to invest wisely and save. Because when the well runs dry, that’s it.

But no, they just decided to spend and spend and spend. Let’s buy a giant house, send our children to expensive schools, get $1000 hair treatments, have a bunch of plastic surgery, hit up Gucci and see if we can’t blow money like crazy. Now there is probably no money left and not one thing they can do to earn it back.

I can’t see them getting another show. Nobody wants Kate’s parenting books, seeing as she is crazy and all. Eventually people will stop calling for appearances as they become less and less famous. And sadly the children who made this money will never see a dime of it in their adult lives.

  8. She didn’t save for a rainy day? No show lasts forever. But while the Duggar kids (19 Kids And Counting) are cute and well behaved, the Gosselin kids, well, aren’t, hence the cancelled show. Kate should have been nicer to all the little people along the way, including the local church that helped her out after giving birth to the six younger children that was never repaid after she “hit it big” with TLC. I guess Kate won’t be complaining about paparazzi anymore, she should be happy that they’ll be cancelled as well…

  9. It seems like through not so careful editing, TLC is burning Kate on their way out the door, showing what a nightmare she is and not editing in her favor. They probably took great glee in editing this final season.

  10. Kate know this was coming that why she been shopping around for a new show she trying to get a spot on “The Talk” TV show and getting her own dating show. As for money put aside for college Kate goes back in forth with that story when the show was doing good she said that she had money put a side but when ever TLC thought about cancelling the show, she would come up with some sob story crying that she has no money or how the kids devastated without the show to any media outlet that would hear her to keep the show going, now she doing it again so people will feel sorry for her and give her another one.

  11. What the heck is she talking about. That house should have been paid for 5 times over with what she made off the show, books, speaking engagements, etc. She has received numerous free trips, surgeries, clothes, food, etc. She should have a nice nest egg by now. Nurses can potentially make alot of money. She may not be able to maintain her current lifestyle (nannies, mani/pedis, hair extentions, private schools for 8 kids, etc) but she certainly should be a position where she can pay the mortgage/upkeep on her house and feed her children. She is clearly addicted to the fame and is not going to give it up without a fight–not that I blame her.

  12. She can wake up to her self and realise not everything is about her, go and get a real job Kate and work for your money rather than living of your kids.
