Giuliana Rancic & Bill Rancic Expecting Baby

After a long and painful road to parenthood, congratulations are in order for Giuliana Rancic and husband Bill Rancic!

The E! News host and Fashion Police cohost, 37 – who has struggled with infertility, one miscarriage and a diagnosis of breast cancer – announced on the Today show Monday that the couple are expecting a baby via gestational carrier in late summer. “We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered,” Giuliana tells E! News. Adds Bill, 40, “We are absolutely ecstatic to be sharing this with everyone who has been following our journey.”

The happy couple know the sex of the child, but are hoping to keep it a secret.

She added that the surrogate mother lives out of state, but they make the trip to accompany her on all doctor visits.

The couple’s desire to have children played a part in Rancic’s decision to undergo a double mastectomy in December. The years of medication that usually follow a lumpectomy and radiation therapy would have meant delaying parenthood for several more years.

At the time, Rancic said she was devastated by her 2010 miscarriage. “I said, ‘I’m not doing this again. I can’t.’ I was angry at life and at God,” she shared. But the couple decided to continue ahead with in vitro fertilization.

Their fertility and health struggles have played out quite publicly, in part because it’s all documented on their Style Network reality show, Giuliana & Bill, currently in its fifth season.

  1. Fantastic news for this couple. They really seem to get each other, and I think they’ll make terrific parents! Congrats!!

  2. If any couple deserves to have a child it’s them. They are so loving and caring, such family orientated people. I really hope everything goes well for them and their baby.

  3. I certainly hope she doesn’t have a recurrance of the cancer. It would be a shame for this baby to be raised without a mother.

  4. Fantastic news, congratulations to them both. They really deserve some good luck. Giuliana seems like such a lovely lady. So happy for them both ;o)

      • She had a double masectomy – meaning that this reduces her risk of the cancer returning by great amounts.
It’s selfish that you thought that.
Didn’t your mother teach you, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything?

  5. What wonderful news! I’ve always admired their bravery in sharing their fertility struggle out in the open, and this news has just put a smile on my face.

  6. It is NOT selfish of her to have this baby (to the poster who said that above). She has had a brush with death and deserves to live her life to the fullest just like all others. She has wanted a child for so long and I would think having cancer would now make that even more meaningful for her. I was truly happy for them when they announced this. They will make wonderful parents.

  7. That’s great for them!! And this way she can keep on going starving herself, so this will work out great for everyone!
