Giada De Laurentiis: “Jade Eats What We Eat”

Food Network star and best-selling cookbook author Giada De Laurentiis looks fit and fabulous on the May cover of Health magazine. In an accompanying interview, the Giada at Home host opens up about what’s on the menu for her 4-year-old daughter Jade (who “has become trickier to get excited about mealtime”), her family and on the moments she is the happiest.

On if she would consider writing a children’s cookbook: “I don’t believe in kids’ cookbooks. Jade eats what we eat – food the entire family eats. I grew up eating what my parents put in front of me.”

On her relationship with her family: “I wouldn’t be who I am today without my family. I’m a product of three people: my grandfather, who had the passion. His family owned a pasta factory in Naples before World War II, so he had a real passion for Italian food. My Aunt Raffy, who’s on the show a lot, is the creative one. She brings me recipes from all over the world. And my mom. She has four children and had to get food on the table as quickly as possible. My mom [taught me] speed.”

On the moments when she is happiest: “I’m happiest when I’m in my own kitchen without any cameras. I’m cooking for my daughter and husband, and they’re hanging out with me.”

Answer to her family likes about them notta word about her husband right! Meanwhile she is matched up with Bobby Flay! Nice touch adding her husband
In …it is Jade that she cooks for

    • Ever think that maybe he prefers to remain a more private person and doesn’t like the attention? Of course, then you’d have to sound less bitter and that seems unlikely.

    • Actually… you must have missed the episode on rachael ray where she had a family video WITH HER HUSBAND, talking about when they met, how long they’ve been together, ect and she seemed to say quite a few nice things about her husband.

Get your facts straight before you open your mouth.

  2. My son will also eat what we eat when he gets older, the second you start making “special food” for your child is the minute they become picky eaters.

    • While I agree with not making the kid a special meal just because they want it, I don’t think it’s such a black and white topic. I ate what my parents ate and it was difficult for me. I dreaded mealtime because I knew that if I wanted to eat, I had to choke down food that made me nauseous. I was a picky eater to begin with and it had nothing to do with me getting special meals. When my mom realized I was choosing to go hungry instead of forcing myself to eat food I hated, she started making different options. I still ate some of the food they ate, but, for example, she would cook me a chicken breast when they had pork chops or make me corn when they ate peas.

  3. Anonymous 5:49…Rubbish!!! What are you talking about?? You must not watch her show because her husband is on all the time!

  4. I agree, my child eats what I put in front of her, I don’t make special food and allow her to be picky. “You eat what I make or you don’t eat” its that simple, if they are hungry they will eat.
