Actor Steve Carell, 49, typically has his audience rolling on the floor in laughter as a result of his comedic movie roles (40-year-old Virgin and Date Night come to mind). In his latest flick, Steve is putting a darkly humorous spin on the apocalypse in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, a love story costarring Keira Knightley. Thankfully, real life is with his family is less complicated.
“We don’t live this strange lifestyle,” Steve tells parade.com about his life with wife Nancy and the couple’s two children Elisabeth, 11, and 8-year-old John.”It’s very ordinary, which is what I love about it.”
And just like almost every other family, Steve says that Sundays are all about family time.
“Sundays are reserved for family,” he says. “We try to plan different things every week, whether it’s going to a kids’ museum, the beach, or taking bike rides around our neighborhood.”
“[The kids] are 8 and 11, and they still like hanging out with us, so we’re taking advantage of it,” he adds. “I know it won’t always be that way.”
As far as his fame interfering with his daily outings, Steve isn’t too worried.
“I went to see The Avengers with my family the other day,” he says. “No one even noticed. I don’t cause a stir. Even when I try.”
