Amy Poehler: “Archie & Abel Are Kind Of Crazy”

Funny mom Amy Poehler shared a few observations about bringing up boys during an appearance on Ellen today.

The Parks and Recreation star, who has sons Archie, 3, and Abel, 2, explained, “They are boys, so they’re kind of crazy. Mothers come over with daughters and we have play dates. My house is a little crazy – everyone’s kind of running around, jumping off furniture. They’ll bring their daughters over and the daughters will be like, ‘Should we sit in the corner and cooperate?’ My guys are like, ‘I made chocolate soup.’ They will just make dirt soup. And the girls are making like a birdhouse out of organic materials. It’s different.”

Amy, who revealed that she’s a “pretty strict mom,” says that though there’s plenty of brotherly love between the boys, they tend to express it in odd ways.

“They love each other, they’re brothers and they’re boys, so they kind of play like bear cubs. There’s a lot of peeing… just everyone’s marking their territory.”

Earlier this month the Emmy-winner and her husband of 9 years Will Arnett announced their separation.

  1. Love Amy, she’s so funny – and I love Will too, he’s great in up all night – so sad to hear they split, but it sounds like they’re handling it really well, so hopefully it wont be too tough for them and the kids to adjust!

And on the subject of boys v girls – I used to think my 4 year old daughter was crazy – until she became best friends with a boys – and wow – boys are craaaazy, lol.

  2. I love Amy! Babymama is one of my fav movies.. I’m glad shes always honest about motherhood and kids. I think at some point in time we all think our kids are crazy! lol
