Kerri Walsh Expecting Baby No. 3

Olympian Kerri Walsh gives going for the gold a whole new meaning!

The three-time gold medal champion was five-weeks pregnant while competing for beach volleyball at the 2012 London Olympics! Baby on-the-way will be her third child with husband, fellow volleybal star Casey Jennings.

“When I was throwing my body around fearlessly, and going for gold for our country, I was pregnant, and today I’m 11 weeks pregnant,” Kerri said on the Today Show Monday.

Due on April 9, their baby will join big brothers, Joey, 3, and Sundance, 2.

Feeling “moody and touchy” in London, Kerri also noticed her period was four days late.

“You’re probably pregnant,” her beach volleyball partner, Misty May-Treanor, said. And sure enough, her teammate was right.

“It’s just so exciting,” Kerri said.

As she nears the end of her first trimester, she revealed she had a miscarriage before having her first son, and said this pregnancy has been “different.”

“This little one is kicking my butt! The first two were pretty easy, but with this one, I’m sick every day, I’ve got some awesome acne, I just feel different.”

Before hitting London, Kerri opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about trying for a third child.

“The goal and the plan are to win gold in London and then get pregnant right away,” she said. “I would love, love, love to see what a little girl of ours would look like. I would love to have a daddy’s little girl for my husband. It is in God’s hands, and if we have another boy, I would be so blessed too.”

As it turns out, the couple started trying a little earlier.

“A month before, we’re like, ‘Should we start trying?’” Kerri said of trying for a baby before London. “I had never experienced morning sickness. We were in Gstaad, Switzerland, one of my favorite places, our favorite places, in the world …  we decided just to get going on the process.”

“Apprently we’re very fertile,” she joked.

Congratulations to the the Walsh-Jennings family!

  1. I wouldn’t give interviews to a website who let comments like the first one go through, how awful. This woman has achieved so much and all you care about is her looks, ridiculously shallow.

I hope she gets her girl, I love to see strong athletic women with little girls, great role models, and this family is adorable!
