In their latest guest blog titled Aquarium Adventures, reality TV dads Bill Horn and Scout Masterson (a.k.a. The Guncles) share their trip to Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Calif. on Sunday (October 7).
As they shared in their last blog, The Guncles love keeping it close to their Los Angeles home. The Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood stars are becoming pros at fun family getaways for their 2-year-old daughter Simone, all within a few hours of their front door. Continue reading about the Horn-Masterson weekend getaway.
Now that Simone is a toddler (She turned 2 this June… Time flies!) we’re always looking for fun things to do that focus on her enjoyment, and are also fun for us dad’s too! Like many families, we don’t have time to get away for a traditional week, or two week, vacation. And the thought of hopping on a plane and dragging along heavy luggage is exhausting. Our best getaways are the ones we can drive a few hours and arrive to enjoy. Our latest adventure was a weekend trip to Long Beach to visit The Aquarium of the Pacific.
Upon entering, we were happy to see the ease of checking out the different exhibits without maze-like endless lines. It had a very laid back feel. Simone had a blast checking out all of the different kinds of fish and sea life.
There were definitely some highlights – and Simone’s favorites!
The penguins were at the top of her list. We all enjoyed being able to watch the penguins play and dive under water up close. And the life-like penguin statues make an awesome photo opp!
Also big on Simone’s list were the sea lions exhibit and the petting area where kids of all ages can touch sting rays. The shark underwater observation area was amazing… We were in awe of how big the sharks were and the size of their teeth! Although, Simone was convinced a shark was smiling at her. We love that her nature is to see the good side in everyone and everything.
Other very cool creatures were the sea horses and eels (or as Simone says “the big snakes”). We could have watched the fish swim for hours. Such an awesome sight.
We finished off the day by watching the 20 minute Turtle 4D movie – a can’t miss!
The Aquarium was a blast for the whole family. Easy to navigate and no rushing to wait in lines. We can’t wait to visit again and see how our new sea friends are doing.
Let us know what “adventures” you go on with your kids. We’re always looking for great suggestions of stuff to do with our growing family.
