The Guncles Blog: Must-Have Items From ABC Expo

In their latest guest blog, reality TV dads Bill Horn and Scout Masterson (a.k.a. The Guncles) share their top finds at the 10th Annual All Baby & Child (ABC) Kids Expo in Louisville, KY.

In this special report exclusively for Celebrity Baby Scoop, the Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood stars reveal the must-haves from the fab event.

The ABCs: Planning For Baby No. 2 with Some of the Hottest New Products

For the past 3 years we’ve had the pleasure of attending the annual ABC Kids Expo where hundreds of companies converge to show off their latest-and-greatest products for babies and kids. Held again this year in Louisville, Kentucky, the miles-and-miles of products showcased can be daunting to cover. But each year we do our best to see as many of the offerings as possible.

Now that we’ve decided to start the adoption process again, we took to the Expo floor this time looking for what wasn’t available just 2 1/2 years ago when our amazing Simone was born. We were pleasantly surprised to find a number of products we can’t wait to get our hands on.

We won’t start collecting any of these incredible items before we know for sure that we’ll be blessed a second time, but it never hurts to plan…. or dream! 🙂

Orbit Baby Double Helix

We loved the Orbit G2 Travel System that we used with Simone up until she was about 8 or 9 months old. Tori and Dean were early fans of Orbit, and we fell in love with its 360 rotation system when Liam was born. What’s new? The Orbit Baby Double Helix – now we’ll be able to wheel around a newborn in the car seat and Simone at the same time. With the Helix you get 360 degree seat rotation, modularity to accommodate all Orbit seat options, the convenience of single or double mode, and eco-certified green fabrics. It will be sold both as a complete double stroller as well as an upgrade attachment for existing Stroller G2 owners. Starts at $1,310 for the complete system.

Manny & Simon

We love the new Manny & Simon fire engine and pink cart from this simple and chic line. We have so many plastic items in our house that will probably end up beaten and heading to the trash. For baby No. 2 wouldn’t it be great if we introduced a toy like this that could either donated to a friend of non-profit, or handed down for the next generation of Masterson-Horns? (Too soon to plan for grandkids?). Manny & Simon toys just seem to make more sense for our family and the environment.

Skip Hop’s Jonathan Adler Diaper Tote

When Skip Hop introduced Jonathan Adler Loves Skip Hop diaper bags late last year, we pretty much begged to be among the very first people to own one. We’re huge Adler fans – from rugs to lamps to white porcelain horses, our home is full of Adler’s fun, playful, chic line of home accessories and furniture. So a functional diaper bag in a classic Adler print was a no brainier. Early next year, Skip Hop will release tote bags with three different, chic Adler prints. With a newborn (God willing) and a little girl who is always in need of a snack and a change of clothing, this bag will be perfect. It’s big and we’ll need the space.

The Original Baby’s Ba Bottle

The Ba fits around bottles and is designed specifically for small hands to hold those bottles securely with ease. It is also a soft toy after transitioning out of bottle feeding. Obviously, at our house breast feeding is not an option, so any devise that will help make bottle time easier and more enjoyable is welcome. And our friend Denise Richards is a fan. Her giant image holding adorable daughter Eloise stopped us in our tracks on the show floor.

Mamas & Papas Stargaze Playmat & Gym

This playmat really seems to take stimulating activities to a whole new level. It includes an interactive touch pad and pull toys that trigger lights and sound to stimulate baby’s development. It is MP3 compatible so you can play your own music, rhymes and stories. And it’s part of the company’s MAGIC line of products. Five MAGIC Card Packs hold 20 minutes of unique content that each have a different theme of characters that take your baby on a journey, unraveling the story behind the characters as they interact each day.

Samsung SmartCam

This WiFi Video Baby Monitor is very, very cool! You can watch your baby on almost any connected device including PC, Mac, tablet or smart phone (Android & iPhone). Simply purchase the tiny camera and then connect it to your home wireless network. And it’s also great for home security. When you set-up the camera, you can create a private YouTube channel. When the camera is motion activated, the video feed will immediately be sent to your YouTube channel and recorded. You’ll receive an alert almost immediately on your cell that the camera has been activated so you can log on and see what’s happening in your home… IN REAL TIME! Retails for $149.00 and is available now.

4moms Breeze

We’re big fans of the 4moms mamaRoo baby swing and Origami power folding stroller. We lovingly called the mamaRoo “baby Ambien” and we currently use the power folding Transformer-esq stroller for Simone. Recently 4moms started selling their latest ingenious product, the Breeze. It’s the world’s “easiest play yard ever.” Like every other parent we’ve struggled to either set-up or take down a play yard for Simone. The simplest product always proves the hardest to use. But the Breeze is easy. It opens or closes in one step. Comes with a bassinet, changing pad, and travel bag for $299.99 and is available now.

The Mixie is the one-of-a-kind baby formula bottle can be filled in advance and mixed at feeding time with just the push of a button. Fix it now, and use it later. Great for parents like us who are always on the go. We saw it in action and it’s very cool. Comes in two sizes – 4 and 8 ounces.

Honorable mention: Kids Bath Creations

Not something a new baby would use, but we had to mention their miniature toilets and vanities for kids! We mean… genius. And the toilets work with your existing plumbing.
