Meet Lyon Lamas-Richie.
“I’m so happy for my daughter and son-in-law, because they wanted another child really badly,” Lorenzo gushed. “I was happy that we were able to help them accomplish that.”
Shawna added: “We all feel a little more complete now that Lyon is here and growing and doing well.”
“I was shocked that my dad was on board with this, to be 100 percent honest,” Shayne said. “But I’ll always be grateful.”
And it sounds like it was a positive experience for everyone.
“I would do it again in a heartbeat!” Shawna shared. “I’m glad we did it,” Lorenzo added. “Shawna wanted the experience of having a baby. I was glad that she got to do that — and that it wasn’t ours!”
And the proud new parents are more than grateful.
“It’s complete closure for us,” said Nik, who mourned with his wife over the son they lost in-utero last year. “It allows us to continue our legacy as a family.” Added Shayne: “It was the biggest blessing in the world.”
Last year, Shayne lost a baby boy at 20 weeks after a rare uterine rupture. After finding out she could no longer have children, she looked into surrogacy.
