Another A-list couple is calling it quits.
St. Vincent actress Naomi Watts and Ray Donovan star Liev Schreiber – who are parents to sons Sasha, 9, and Kai, 7 – are breaking up after eleven years together.
“Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship,” the couple tells E! News in a joint statement. “While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy.”
While promoting their upcoming film The Bleeder, the duo were spotted holding hands and looking happy at both the Venice Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival at the beginning of the month.
Last weekend, Schreiber rocked the red carpet at the Emmys with Sasha as his date. As well, the proud papa recently posted photos on his sons’ first day of school, and while enjoying the pool with his boys in August.
During a June appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Schreiber admitted his filming schedule, which forced the family to live bi-coastal, was “awful.”
“It’s tough,” Schreiber, 48, said of living bi-coastal. “The kids are at that age where you kind of want them to have a continuity with friends and school,” he said, adding that not having a set schedule where he gets to see them is “awful.”
He added: “You have to put them first at a certain point, and the back-and-forth thing can get tough. It’s hard on me most, I think. I try to FaceTime with them, but they’re just bored. It’s a horrible feeling. I work a 16-hour day and I have like, 20 minutes to talk to my kids, and they’re just like, ‘Hey Dad.’ ”
